It's decent. You get a handful of players each season that get signed to affiliated ball. Pitching could be deeper (at what level couldn't pitching be deeper).
We had Class AA ball here in Dogpatch for a number of years before they left town and the Wichita Wingnuts came. While we don't get the prospects we did when the Wichita Pilots/Wranglers were in town (like, say, Johnny Damon's two weeks here), we still get some good players. (The prospects come to town in early August when for the National Baseball Congress World Series summer college tourney).
We'll see how it goes with the NL teams coming in. Kansas City will help Wichita (and visa versa). Add in Lincoln, Sioux Falls and Sioux City, and you have a nice set of rivalries within decent travel times.
There was talk about an NL team in Topeka before the NL break-up, but Topeka still doesn't have a decent pro venue. (It has a couple nice fields, but not much in the way of seating capacity. One is in a county park, one is run by the school district and one is run by NCAA D II Washburn. None will allow beer.) I don't know where that stands today.
We'll see how it goes.
