AFL Announces Intentions to Form Development League

During the halftime portion of this week's AFL broadcast on the NFL Network, AFL Commissioner Jerry Kurz announced that the AFL will bring back a developmental league similar to the af2. No details, just the announcement only, the announcement implied that this would be ready for the 2013 season.. Any ideas on how the league accomplishes this?

Maybe approach some of the best-run teams in the knockoff leagues and ask them if they'd like a bit more legitimacy? Rather than creating 10-14 teams out of thin air.

They will be purchasing several existing leagues to form the new developmental league. Each division and all of it's teams will be owned by one person.

The rumored league will have 4 Divisions split over 2 conferences. Each Division will have 4 teams for a 16 team league in year one.

AMERICAN CONFERENCE

Atlantic Division will be owned by John Morris
Midwest Division will be owned by Jeff Spitaleri

ULTIMATE CONFERENCE

South East Div owned by Andrew Haines
Gulf Coast Div will be owned by Chad Dittman

The Commish will be Carolyn Shiver

They are already in talks to add a few more divisions for year two.

Pac NorthWest (Eric Spitaleri)
Bayou Central (Thom Hagger)
Leavenworth (Dwayne Wells)
