Indoor Football Team Folds
Revolution Lasts Only Two Seasons
By ERIC WHITE
FOX8 News
GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) – The American Revolution lasted eight years (1775 - 1783). The Greensboro Revolution indoor arena football team lasted only two seasons (2006 – 2007).
Team officials confirmed to FOX8 Wednesday they had ceased operations. The team's official Web site is gone, its phone number disconnected.
From the beginning, the Revolution never connected with fans. Attendance was low at Greensboro Coliseum. What buzz the team did receive was more in regard to problems paying players and coaches than its play on the field.
Taxpayers are not out any money, because the team was up to date on their bills with the coliseum complex.
Coliseum directors said they will pursue another arena football team to take the Revolution's place, but hope to find a team affiliated with a league more reputable than the National Indoor Football League.
Messages to the NIFL for comment on the Revolution's folding were not returned.
