I agreed with the other person that thought Arkansas could use a logo redesign, so I took a whack at it. Here is what I came up with (using Arkansas current colors):
http://67.18.219.83/image_hosting/web_pages/lightningman/impactLogo225.png

And the original for comparison:

Criticism welcome. Try not to bruise my ego too badly.

Thanks, RadioDavel. I would forward it to them, but there's no web contact information on their site.

they can get it to the right folks in Arkansas...

you do one for the Riverhawks and Throwbacks, could use a touch-up

I would love to see Arkansas broken up into pieces for giving us <DELETED-POLITICAL COMMETS>

Doing one for the Throwbacks might be fun. Problem is, I'm not sure from their current logo what they're striving for.

Your logo doesn't include the "impact" of Arkansas (what I called Arkansas being broken to pieces). I think you could go with the old logo and superimpose the basketball and still get the impact effect.

I agree the original "Bam" was better, but the Impact and Arkansas of the original is almost unreadable at their present size. Let me try something and get back to you.

Yeah, that's much better than their current logo. Shows how much time they must have put in to theirs.

Just a FYI-teams usually don't take independent work, especially after what happened with the Baltimore Ravens in the late 1990s.

Just an FYI back, the mb glove logo used by the Milwaukee Brewers was designed by a fan. And what happened with the Ravens was that someone sued because they said their work was stolen. If Arkansas likes what I have done, it will be insanely easy for them and me to come to an agreement if they don't try to steal it.

Nice job, I'd suggest flipping the Arkansas and Impact and make Impact much larger, maybe not Italicezed (SP?)

With the understanding that I have no idea what their idea is behind their logo, here's a new Throwback logo based (loosely) on their current one.

I'd flip the Arkansas and Impact myself but that's their order so I kept it. I like the italics myself (conveys motion) and I am afraid if I make the Impact any bigger it will make the state and the ball go away.

Ball in Glove was designed in the 80s-well before the Ravens suit.

After what happened with the Ravens, teams don't accept logos simply because it's not worth the possible legal hassle.

Why? I'm not going to sue them if they buy it from me. Do you so desperately need to be right that you have to interfere with a chance for me to make a few shekels?

From what?

Here is all the Impact need to know about the Ravens case (http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4183/is_20031009/ai_n10058634):

Bouchat, a security guard and amateur artist, established in 1998 that the Ravens' first logo was based on a sketch he faxed the National Football League and team owner Art Modell. The verdict withstood appeals to the 4th Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court, which refused to hear the case.

In July 2002, however, the jury in the damages phase awarded Bouchat nothing, finding that the Flying B logo contributed not one cent to the $2.67 million in royalties the team took in from sales of the logo-bearing merchandise and souvenir cups.

Bouchat deliberately chose, for tactical reasons, to abandon his perfectly valid claim to compensation for his actual damages in favor of a percentage of the Ravens' profits, Judge Marvin Garbis wrote in denying Bouchat's motion for a new trial.

Of course, as well knew, [b]his actual damages were no more than the $7,000 to $10,000 that a commercial artist would have been paid for an NFL logo drawing, the judge added in a footnote.

I'm asking for a whole lot less than $7K. Not anywhere remotely in the same universe. Just ask Moose Lewis; I made the same offer to him for logos that I will make to the Impact. Please give it a rest about the Ravens.

I agree...the Raven says "nevermore, nevermore" ...I'm glad for your chance to do this, enjoy it...the Impact will get a good deal in the process

Make sure they have all your personal information then, keep records of EVERYTHING, and I'd also suggest you insist on being paid in cash for anything you do for the GBA.

You really should have watermarked your logos as well....just a note for the future.

I keep hearing these "things" about Moose Lewis this and Moose Lewis that and pay in cash-where is the proof no one got paid. For the record, I have paid numerous people over the years with instruments other than cash without a problem. You can even check with the New York Athletic Commission about checks written by me from a Georgia account for officials and they will tell you there has never been a problem=why is it you guys just cannot state a fact and have to fill the air with falsehoods?

Just to be clear, I didn't say any of those things about you and merely brought our conversation up as proof I was not asking for $7K. I don't have a problem with you.

For the record, I would insist on being paid in cash by anyone who plans to do significant work with the ABA. Just to be safe. That's why I said that.
