My opinion is the only one that matters. Remember that kiddies! Someday it will be printed in reprints of the Holy Bible. However, this month I decided to hand the awarding of the next Lahey of the Month to the good people of the OSC message board. Thanks to Paul for allowing the ensuing carnage to go on and for allowing me to do this here.
Without any further adieu, the Lahey of the Month for October is:
JOE KOLODZIEJ
Joe has been a hot topic on the OSC boards as well as elsewhere for a long time now. His humble beginnings in the conciousness of minor league hockey fans began a year ago when he and partner Tom Considine founded the Northern Michigan Predators of the IIHL. The league was a disorganized mess that was a front for a major scam masterminded by Mike Killbreath. (If you can put the words mastermind and MK together.) During this time and throughout the fallout Joe, Chris Blasius and a few others were the only thing at all positive to come out of this. When having trouble even paying for phonecalls Chris was working to get his players promoted, (including top minor league tender Glen Riddler,) and Joe did as much as anyone to help move players up to other leagues. Then all hell broke loose.
Joe is a lot like me in the sense that he is his own worst enemy on message boards. Unfortunately he has a tendancy to call people out more than I do when pressed with a question he can't readily answer. (See his war or words with me over weather the IIHL would ever play a game or not.) He also has a hard time leaving well enough alone but I will get into that a bit more later.
Unfortunately for Joe, everything turned to crap after leaving the Predators. His business relationship with Considine turned sour and got personal and it resulted in Joe getting arrested for fraud and a few other offences. What's worse is that this wasn't the first time by a long shot for Joe. He has spent more time in court than out since then but the problems got even worse for Joe when he tried to start up yet another pro hockey league, this time based in Buffalo where he got busted AGAIN! Dude, what's up with that?
While Joe was battling in court he struck up a business relationship with former NEHL head Jim Cashman and before long that also went to hell. Hirings were made that never materialized, arena deals were announced that never happened and logos were lifted from other people's websites. Cashman was soon fazed out at this point but things got even worse for Joe as his cases hit the fan and he was forced to plead guilty to fraud charges. This was his 4th conviction. The EXACT amount of times Killbreath SHOULD have been convicted of over the same period of time.
Poor Joe couldn't leave well enough alone after that, he decided that flame wars were the way to go. Just like Killbreath before him, Joe's battles on the message boards did nothing to help his reputation or his chances of floating a successful hockey league. With the $#!+ hitting the fan in virtually every city he has tried to set up shop of late it is doubtful that he will ever put a pro hockey league or even a rec league together anytime soon. The b.s. on the message boards is something he brought on himself and he would have been best served to lay low to quote John Belushi, BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, he had to get the last word in and degenerated into a jr. high school kid before our very eyes. It's sad and I have to admit that I have been pretty nasty on my site and on the boards but I would act quite differently if I was running a team or league.
Joe Kolodjiez, 4 time convicted felon, flame baiter, defunct hockey operator, possibly a Ford owner but I am not sure and likely future inmate if your Lahey of the Month for the month of October. Don't say I didn't warn ya!
