If you had to rank the indoor leagues, and AF2, how would you order them?
Criteria for your ranking would involve overall player talent only. Basically, if the all the leagues were merged into one giant league, which league's current teams would come out on top (using teams from the 2007 season of play) in your opinion.
Mine:
1. UIFA
2. AF2 (AF2 has great talent, but they also have a lot of scrubs divided between their many teams)
3. Intense
4. CIFL
5. AIFA
APFL and NIFL get honorable mentions, but no rankings from me (I'll rank them when there a comes a time they deserve it).
I don't think the disparity between the leagues is that great, so I expect to see varying lists submitted...and stong opinions as well I suspect.

I say they're all tied for forth behind the NFL, AFL and CFL.

1. IFL/UIF
3. af2
4. CIFL
5. AIFA
Since I don't consider the IIFA and APFL to be at the same level as the other leagues, I won't include them in the rankings. I consider them to be somewhere between semi-pro and minor league professional.
With that said, I rank them seperately as follows:
1. APFL
Honorable mention goes to the IIFA since they have yet to play a single down of football. After 2008 I have the feeling that they will most likely take the number 1 spot over the APFL.

1.af2
2.CIFL
3.UIF
4.IFL(Lots of IFL players are trying out for CIFL teams)
5.AIFA
6.APFL
7.IIFA
8.NIFL(If they even play in 2008)

I would rank them as:
1) af2
2) Intense (because Frisco hired Dan Ryan!)
3) AIFA
4) UIF
5) APFL
6) CIFL
There is a big difference between 1 and 2. Ohter than that, there isn't much seperating each league. All the leagues are plagued with bad ownership, arena problems, revenue issues, bad play, poor marketing, etc. BUT the players and coaches show up to play and give the fans a good game.
I did not include the NIFL because I'm not sure if they are even playing this season. If they were, they would enter at #8 after the upstart IIFL.

1) AF2 (though the McGregor owning half the league issue scares me)
2a) UIF
2b) IFL - these two are in a dead heat
4a) CIFL
4b) AIFA - these two are in a dead heat...the CIFL had the worse 2007, but they're having a far better offseason
6) APFL

af2 - More players move up to the AFL from the af2 than the rest of the leagues combined.
UIF/AIFL/CIFL/IFL - Nothing that makes me thing any of them are above the others
NIFL - Ugh. Used to be, at least, decent. Hasn't been in a long time.

I don't enjoy pitting these leagues against each other. Last year I went to all of the Copperheads' (af2) home games and 3 Katy (IFL) home games. I enjoyed both. If I HAD to choose one over the other (in terms of quality), I'd offer an opinion, but I don't HAVE to do so. I just enjoy the football and entertainment thats available to me at face value.
I can't comment about the UIF, APFL, etc. because I've never attended their games and don't know enough about them. The NIFL? Well, I didn't have to attend a game (finding a game to attend is a feat in itself) to form an opinion about them.
Any league that puts on a good show, plays all of it's games and compensates coaches and players as promised is a good league in my opinion. Therefore, I enjoyed the af2 and IFL very much last season. If I felt the need to pass judgement and rate leagues, I'd focus on being critical of the leagues/teams that fail to deliver on their promises.

Snake Bitten Nice post.
Reminds me of Texas high school football
Is 5A better than 1A?
If the two champions meet 5A win most every time
But would you say that the fans liked the 5A championship better than the 1A I think not, those fans enjoyed watching both.

I go to all league games. I enjoy most, except some of the pro vs semi-pro blowouts as seen in the APFL and CIFL last year. The talent in most of the leagues is comparable and therefore interesting to see where people weigh in on comparing the leagues. No one is twisting your arm for you opinion. Enjoy the games.

I know your bitter about your team joining 1A, but no need to be so grumpy. Games are enjoyable as long as they are competitive. When you see the Kansas Koyotes repeatedly beating up on inferior competition, competitiion that's semi-pro touted as pro, then you walk away from the game feeling cheated when the final score is 72-7.
Hopefully the Drillers have a good year in the APFL this year, then move on to better pastures next year.

It's all good. I wasn't trying to be snippy....but there are some here (not saying you) who are forever pitting one league against the other for agenda driven reasons. I was just trying to bring a positive approach to what is usually a negative oriented discussion. I agree with you, the one sided blow outs with faux teams offering "opposition" isn't cool. Thats not fun for anyone.

No problem. I'm just trying to drum up an interesting discussion. I like to see where people weigh in.
