View Full Version : Graves gone
ok it's official. The Xplosion have lost team leading scorer Antonio Graves to a French team, who bought out his contract. Do the X benefit in any way?
We need to find a replacement soon, to stop this losing skid.

Yes, CBA teams get $20,000 for every player of theirs that a team from overseas signs.
That should do well to help promotion

I am sure it will go right to promotion , and not to the bottom line to help offset the huge losses they incur.
up to me, I'd say promotion comes first because you need the support of fans to help pay for the other neccesities to keep the team going.

If the Xplosion haven't done it in the past, what in the world makes you think they are going to start now?
for you to say, ML. You don't LIVE here! They advertised just prior to their last game vs. Yakama. I'm hoping that they start doing that more often now.

Who made this agreement where each "transfer" runs $20,000? Or is there really an agreement? Common practice everywhere but America is that the TEAMS negotiate a price.
Of course, that depends on who's buying as well as selling. Higher level team or lower level team? I'm curious to know who's "getting the steal" in this transaction.

Contact the CBA office and see for yourself if you don't believe me.

Ya I think when buying out contracts the league has a price then the team gets the $20,000... The Dleague is similar....

Frankly, ML, if you're going to bring out the statement, then tell everyone to call the office... that doesn't wash. You bring it out, then cite a source, be more clear in the writing, what have you. In reality, this stuff is too important... and it's good that you brought it out in the first place.
Besides, I'm thinking an individual team could clear more than $20K for MOST of these players. If the league is taking a cut, they're taking credit for a player that the TEAM is developing. (You ought to read soccer boards about this... if you think I'm passionate on the subject, just wait until you find out that I'm reasonable by comparison).

Pounder, the source is Dennis Truax. That is a league policy for the CBA, regardless of who the player is, as long as he is on the current roster of a CBA franchise.
