Although it was frustrating to watch, Yakama played like a Championship team in sweeping the Xplosion(wearing Gold). They took advantage of our missed shots, grabbing rebounds and converting on their shots. Unfortunately, we had what was one of our largest(possibly the largest) crowd this season at the Petersen Events Center. We actually had the lead at some points, but they came back. At least we can take some satisfaction that we won the first and third quarters. And the crowd was a little more into it.
If the Sun Kings continue on this course, I think they will win it all. I feel sorry for any city's they travel to. The Xplosion gave them a lot to handle and it was sad to watch their losing streak go to three, after we won as many. I kind of suspected this would happen, though, after our trouncing in Kentucky(we've still yet to win on the road).

Our previous high was 891 when East Kentucky visited. Last night, according to the Yakama Herald-Republic, we hit 920.

Yakima was in blue, correct?

I wish they would mix it up and wear that at home.

The Sun Kings did wear Blue, as they always do on the road(Gold at home). The X have been mixing it up at home, wearing all colored uniforms at home. You want Yakama to do that too? I do think Gold and white(seperately, like the X do) would be a nice combo to wear at home.
by the way, last night's game was advertised. I found the add this am.

Yeah, that crowd looks much better by Pittsburgh's standards. However, the Xplosion venues are the Xplosion's own worst enemies. Does nothing for the atmosphere. More photos of that bar please. Now THERE'S great atmosphere! 8)

How in the world does this team afford the rent?

time I've seen a game advertised. The official attendence was 920.
My guess is that the Xplosion have been conserving their budget because of the lease agreement, which ends in two years.
Our old CBA team, the Piranhas, grew to be successfull at the Palumbo Center in the only year we had them(95). It is my understanding that the X tried to get that facility but it was unavailable. I do agree that they need a smaller facility and I've contacted them about that. But they can't do anything until the agreement ends(after 2009 season). In the meantime they have to keep advertising and hope the crowds keep getting bigger.

Thanks for admitting Yakama is a very good team. But you forgot to mention they swept the X without 2 of there best players not playing (Weathers/Forte) plus Mims is still very limited due to injury.

are good team, kg. But I was highly disappointed that we were not able to salvage a win out of it(especially given our big crowd). The fact that you never even mentioned the X as at least competitive leaves a lot to be desired on your part(imo).

Why would he mention the Xplosion as being a competitive team when they are currently below .500? In my opinion if you are below .500 you deserve no mention of being competitive.

Here let me answer that.

I dont care what you say . you can be negative. And I will still go to the games and love the X and promote them. Compared to last year we are doing great. Who care if the Sunkings were missing some of their best players, we won 2 qt pts. Copywright PBSF

That's typical of you, ML. I can't remember ever seeing you say anything positive about anything.

Geez, by yer logic there would only be four teams worth mentioning in the CBA. :)

Give the Xplosion their due, at this time last year they were getting whipped by everybody. Okay, a 9-10 record isn't exactly the New England Patriots, but compared to what they were a year ago that's a major improvement.

Now in the standings, Albany and Minot still have more games to play than Pittsburgh, so of course that will all factor out as the season progresses. But the X and the Patroons have a three-game series this week, and Albany's got some players that are nicked up, so this could be the Xplosion's chance to make a good showing.

Have anything good/positive to say about anyone/anything other than your favorite postings. Hopefully whatever has you so nasty will be better in the New Year for you! ;)

All things will be great through Christ in '08.

Of course you can be below .500 and be considered competitive. It's not the highest of bars to clear. I don't think you can be below .500 at this stage of the season and be considered good, at least not within your league.

I think the word 'good' is open to anyone's definition, preeths. When you look at a record in the standings, it's not neccesarily indicative of that team on the court.
For example the Xplosion were very competitive last season, but could not catch a break, until their late season streak. I would have to say that the Xplosion are a better team than our record indicates. Why does a team have to be over the even mark to be considered good? I mean does every team in this league have to be a Yakama to be good? If so, that is asking for high expectations(imo) and very limiting to other teams. In saying that, though, in a ten team league, there has to be some variety in talent for teams(good and not so good). You can't expect everyone to be like the Sun Kings, while there should be some competition as well, which I feel the Xplosion provided overall.

The word 'good' is indicative of the quality of the team relative to the other teams in the league. There are probably 30 NFL teams the Miami Dolphins can't beat right now, so they are a bad NFL team. Though they could kill any other team in the land, they have to be judged by their competition.

Chuck appears to be the only poster on here to acknowledge the improvement of the Xplosion over last season.

Pittsburgh is 0-4 vs. Yakama and a respectable 1-2 vs. Minot. They are 1-6 against those two teams.
VS. the rest of the league they are 8-4 and they have not played some of the cream puffs - GF, ATL.

Geez you guys are a tough crowd.

psbf

that you mean that 'tough crowd' bectond. But I'm under the impression that it's sarcasm. It should be the game competition that counts and not the record against each team. That's like judging someone on physical appearence and not looking at their personality!
I've seem posters talk about specific players on the Skyrockets or the Explorers or even RGV. Why limit discussion on them, why not do that to every team?!

Hope. Great marketing strategy. Hope people show up.

I've not heard back from them so I hope they are considering it.

I hope so too, Sam. I contacted the X and urged them to contiinue with the advertising and using promotions for their games.
