in defense of the ''talent'' handling the play-by-play on the s'rockets webcast, she's just a student trying to get involved and is doing the best she can with the equipment and experience she has to work with. i wouldn't expect any team in this league to be able to pay their webcast ''broadcasters'' and with that definitely being the case in Minot, i guess the old ''you get what you pay for'' cliche is on the money here. give her a chance..... or just turn off the sound...... i might be able to relay to team mgmt that the camera shot has room for improvement so that one might be able to make out player numbers.

yes, at least Minot bucked-up and got their webcast going . . . . . . unlike some other teams that were provided the same hardware by the league.

i think the league deserves kudos for making the webcasts a reality for the most part. its a nice touch and obviously something thats being used by the leagues hardcore fans.

no one should've needed sound or a clearer picture to figure out that minot's strickland faked an injury with about 1:30 left last night that allowed miliner to come in and hit two FTs in his place...... not sure i condone such an obvious thespian job but, hey, strickland is one of those guys you love when hes on your squad and hate when hes up against you. this was basically a key play in minots 4 point win. gotta love the showmanship aspect that strickland brings to the court ---------

I could swear I heard a radio broadcaster next to her. Isn't there some way to hook up the radio broadcast so that it is in sync with the video? That way we're getting the audio and video, and nobody has to pay Barbie to mess things up.

And it's light years past what the ABA promised to bring to their fans.

That usually works in soccer. The star striker gets touched and falls down like he was shot. Limps off the field in absolute pain. Opposing player gets red carded for "flagrant foul." The striker returns to the court 5 minutes later, miraculously healed.

Why? Are they any good in hockey? :)

It can definitely be done as the East Kentucky Miners overlay their webcast with the Q95FM radio broadcast. That arrangement actually works better because of the somewhat spotty quality that a webcast can have, since radio is a much more descriptive call.

The webcast tonight is very bad in Minot, at least for me. It keeps stopping and buffering. EK and Yakama both pipe in radio broadcasts for the webcasts. When watching a team like Minot's webcast you realize how much crowd noise can enhance a game, something you don't see much in Pikeville. All the Miners have is a really annoying dance team captain.

It was buffering too much for me (although I did discover that Barbie's real name is Angela), so I went back to watching DakStats.

BTW Yakama upended Pittsburgh 114-107, Pittsburgh took two of seven quarter points. Actually looked like there was a reasonable crowd at the PEC. Any reports PSBF?

In all honesty, no matter what the league or sport, we are still 1 technology generation (~ 3 to 5 yrs) away from Internet live streaming being a really viable and attractive medium for the masses. (We junkies might get a little out of it now.) The feeds will only be as strong as the weakest link...and there are a lot of potential links. Nonetheless, the CBA is successfully laying the infrastructure for when the technology truly catches up.

we lost. that was one of two disappointments. I guess around 1,00 not sure. But many jerseys for Steelers Hines Ward, who never showed up as advertised. But the Xplosion had autographs after the game. My guess was an attempt to make up for that.

Nowhere on any of the press releases did it say Ward would show.

you should try visiting the Xplosion website(instead of just their discussion board), rock. I've printed out many copies of the page to help promote the game.

I'm pretty pleased with what I have seen on the webcasts, though I am disappointed in the teams that haven't adopted them yet (this means YOU, Silverados!).

The D-League has put their webcast back into beta for the time being after a buggy debut. They are still webcasting the games, they just don't have any links to them on their site. They have been using one camera in the stands, one on a mini-tripod on the scorers table and one mobile cam. They use the radio call and only superimpose a players name during free throws so far -- no score or time shown on screen. They are able to cut to brief replays ingame -- all in all it's pretty nice when it's working right.

Hopefully both leagues will consider archiving games for at least a short while online so we can watch it at our leisure and not worry about buffering, etc.

what you're hearing near Angela during the webcasts is the spotters for the stats guy. there's also a corporate table right next to her that probably produces some ''commentary''. she has had a ''color'' person sitting w/ her on occasion but i don't know if they chime in. they may just be acting as a helper/spotter for her, in which case they're obviously not doing much of a job.

there is no local radio coverage out of Minot that the webcast could tie into. would be nice however . . . . the old Snowbears did have a radio following about 10 years ago. i would imagine that is something that will get a hard look into next year with the new local owners (maybe even for the playoffs this year).

Will Bowers, #41 for Albany, sufferered what looked to be a pretty serious right ankle or ''lower leg'' injury last night. It took about 5 guys to carry the big man off the court. I believe it occurred early in the 2nd quarter. If the leg is broke (like it appeared to be) its really a shame 'cause Will seems like a really nice ''kid''. Saw him kinda lead his team in a very sincere prayer and rah-rah session right before Thursdays game. I liked Bowers - he didn't play a whole lot but was pretty handy while in there on Thurs and Fri. He carries himself like a pro. I also thought Dayshawn Wright showed improved maturity since his stint in Minot last year. He had flashes of good play on Thurs but overall had a pretty tough time during the series in that he couldn't get the ball to fall in spite of some okay looks in the paint. Had a couple of shots partially blocked or tipped last night too. Conversely, he did provide somewhat of a defensive presence when in the ballgames - had to take quite a few fouls on Minots driving/slashing duo of Fields and Kevin Rice . . . . Minot's not a very good FT shooting team however.

Does the Krunk have anything going on? I can't seem to find either the webcast or the stats. Or is it just me and my computer with the problem?

Atlanta does nothing but play games. They don't promote, webcast, draw fans, or do anything but play.
