The only game today saw the X remain winless on the road, losing in Ky, 103-82. I'm curious about what the turnout was. The webcam was poor so I gave up watching, while the turnout looked good.
This stops our winning streak and we are now 9-8, as we wait for Yakima to visit on Thursday. With the Sun Kings having that big win vs. RGV, I hope the Xplosion can pull a surprise. We need wins to keep the fans returning. Our last turnout was 891.

There was a great turnout tonight for the Miners. The Miners put together a complete game and came away with a very impressive win tonight winning all 7 QP.

I figured you would have a great crowd, judging from the number of your supporters who came up here(including your owner). Any numbers?

Nubb16,
That's not a great crowd by anyone's standards...well, maybe by Pittsburgh's standards. 8)

Has it been THAT long since Sioux Falls and Dakota left the league? It's only been a couple of years since the words Great and Crowd weren't uttered in the same sentence until attendance hit about 3200.

psbf,
Please post some more pics when the crowd size is about 891. I would really like to see the difference (hopefully, the crowd won't be all off-camera this time 8) ). More pics of the bar would be appreciated too. It looked like a cozy place for a Guinness.

Just an update on CBA attendance. It's going to be a bit bunched together because I can't hit tab on this forum:

Place team reported Total Average
1. Yakama 9 29,401 3,267
2. Rio Grande Valley 5 7,710 1,542
3. Minot 5 7,099 1,420
4. East Kentucky 10 11,691 1,169
5. Albany 6 6,221 1,037
6. Oklahoma 3 2,944 1,026
7. Butte 9 9,142 1,016
8. Atlanta 3 2,243 748
9. Great Falls 9 4,648 516
10. Pittsburgh 11 4,873 443

The CBA has drawn a reported 85,972 fans to 70 reported games, for an average of 1,228

Ken, that is a very good number for the league average. And to the looks of it, the Miners are holding there own in the attendance department.

was the turnout for our game, when the Xplosion visited, yesterday. What is the Miners average turnout against other teams?

Sorry, remembered it was posted above after I posted previously.
The Xplosion numbers would go up if they would promote like they did in their first season.

Ken, that is a very good number for the league average. And to the looks of it, the Miners are holding there own in the attendance department.

However, the league average is absolutely horrendous. Horrendous for a league that plays 24 home dates. Forget about comparing the Miners to the rest of the league. Quite frankly, the East Kentucky average is horrendous for a first year professional team. The curiousity factor became a non-factor sooner than I thought.

That's why posters keep asking, What was the attendance? What was the attendance? Why? Because the attendance league-wide is horrible...I mean, horrendous. 8)

Ken,

I don't think it's spin. Most Miners fans are new to the CBA. We see over 1000 people showing up for games, we see we're close to the league average, and we think we're doing good. We don't know historically what attendance used to be.

What kinda numbers are leagues/teams expecting to make money, or at least break even? That would be the number I'd be interested in knowing. How well are we keeping pace with that.

The breakeven point varies greatly. Albany broke even at 1,500 per game last year, but they also own their arena, so they pay no rent. Butte needs 1,800 to break even this year.

The number of sponsors you have, cost of arena, player salaries, how much you provide for players in terms of living or food, radio or tv revenue, concessions, and other things determine your break even point.

What I don't get is why someone can't seem to start up a franchise like YAkama. No CBA owner seems be able to get that kind of crowd anywhere.

Just a few other random CBA attendance facts from this year:

Highest Attendance: 3,691 (Yakama)
Lowest Attendance: 222 (Pittsburgh)
Highest Attendance outside of Yakama: 2,508 (RGV)
Lowest Attendance outside Pittsburgh: 250 (GF)
Lowest Attendance outside Pittsburgh, GF, or Atlanta: 617 (OK)
The only teams to have drawn a crowd over 2,000 this year are: EK (1), RGV (1), and Yakama (9)
The average Attendance without the highest drawing team (Yakama) would be 927
The average attendance without the lowest drawing team (Pittsburgh) would be 1,375
The average attendance without either of the extremes would be 1,034

Last season, the Xplosion were singled out for being the worst team in the league-and rightfully so. I had to endure the worst critism while sticking by them.
This season, the the X have greatly improved and are third in our Division and the worst team is RGV who is going thru what we went thru last season. Does anyone talk about them?? No, always us!! Because of our turnouts!! I get so tired of reading that the Xplosion are an example by worst standards!!

Thank you Heavesrock.
Were you able to factor in Butte, or did you use 9 teams?

Butte is included. Their attendance figures can be found in the Montana Standard. The only that likely shouldn't be included is Atlanta, as their attendance figures have only been reported for 3 of 7 home games, and those reported were likely inflated.
