The participation of the Shaanxi Kylins of the Chinese Basketball Association has been announced. Apparently they will make one trip to America and be based out of USBA, Inc. (http://www.usba-inc.com/) headquarters.

(Team page on IBL site (http://www.iblhoopsonline.com/teamChinaShanxi.asp)).

So are they going to play "home" games at the Academy or will they simply be a traveling team?

Anyway, that's a good way for foreign teams to play here and a good use for the USBA (mostly) out of camp season.

It sounds like they will just be playing on the road here. It says that they will be "housed and trained" at the USBA headquarters.

Weren't there supposed to be some teams going to China during the 08 season too? If that is the case maybe they are treating this trip to the US as their "one flight" for the season. They may just play more games on the road then other teams do.

Ding. Their "home base" is not far from Eugene.

I've not heard anything since the last word that the Chargers were in trouble.

I see a marriage of convenience here.

Well it would appear from their schedule that the Kylins will actually play two home games, well at least sort of.

Tuesday May 27 7:15pm China Shanxi Kylins vs Las Vegas Stars*

Wednesday May 28 7:15pm China Shanxi Kylins vs Las Vegas Stars*

that * means the game will be played at the USBA headquarters.

Well, for what it's worth, both Eugene and the Chinese team have published their full schedules.

I don't know enough about the IBL to know if they'd let a shaky team like Eugene back in after losing a couple other West Coast teams unexpectedly. That seems like more of an "ABA" thing.

I think if the Chinese team was meant to sub for the Chargers, the league would have just replaced them as opposed to co-exisiting as they are now.

I don't think Shaanxi Kylins was meant to sub for the Chargers.

I'm just saying they should have.

I still hear that Northwest Christian College hasn't been paid some "back rent" for use of their arena. I'm curious to know how the Chargers go forward. I wonder if they end up changing venues this year, if they manage to survive.
