He appears to be on the floor for the Calvary. What happened to him playing for the Maryland Nighthawks? He's on the PBL website. Anyhow it appears there has major shakeups in OK after Michaels Ray firing as apparently several players have "Boycotted" and are no longer with the team. There are only 6 Cavs players tonight.

Thats my guess, and they got Lamar Castile too, Lamar is really really good

He dominated the ABA like nothing, and he was just recently dominating in Mexico, scoring easily 30+ where ever he goes, now CBA talent is pretty good, so 30+ppg? I highly doubt it, but I think he'll still perform well and be a solid player

in another thread, yes it was Randy. I figured maybe he was picked up in the CBA expansion Draft. I last remembered him playing for Maryland when they visited the X, in the ABA.

What expansion draft?

Maybe there was no expansion draft, but Oklahoma is an expanion team.

Oklahoma being short on players, but it did appear that the Cavalry were wearing the Xplosion's home white uniforms(for whatever reason). But I never had a good enough look to confirm it.

psbf, I can confirm that the Calvary were in fact wearing the Xplosion's home white jerseys. The reason for this is Michael Ray stole the Calvary's uniforms after he was canned. This is a fact as I have an extremely knowledge source about the situation, just like I was first to report that Michael Ray was fired.

I was crazy when I saw that, thanks for confirming it, ML. But why would he steal them? I know his temperment but I think this goes beyond logic(imo)!

Since when was temper logical?

ok, I was only using that word as the only thing that came to mind. As far as I know, stealing the teams uniforms goes beyond any words that I can think of. It's a criminal act.

Michael Ray has some issues, stealing jerseys, wow, this man needs to go to the ABA with more characters like him ;) lol

When I watched the game last night there were only 6 playing for them.

What is this business coming to? Maybe we should all jump ship on minor league basketball and hop on that professional dodgeball league someone was trying to create a few months back.

cat1bb1 - I have heard that the Calvary should have more than 6 players at the game tomorrow night.

I expect them to be more competitive tonight. But I hopefully, we can prolong their slump. Unfortunately, it looks like they'll be wearing our white uniforms again, unless they were able to get theirs back again.

psbf, Tell me how my man Lamar Castile does for the Cavs, hes a Pittsburgh native too, so maybe he'll be really excited to play in his home town, hes a 6'2" guard, real strong and built guy, you should have no problem spotting him out there on the court

If I have the chance, Ill try and watch some of the webcast as well

Thanks

May want to check back with your source.

According to the Albany Times-Union, Micheal Ray Richardson complained about the players not receiving adequate per diem on a road trip, and that he actually went to the league office to complain about the situation. I guess going over someone's head to get things done doesn't work all the time.

I figured this was an ABA owner, CBA coach type of problem. Gift cards $#@%. The smart thing to do is cut 2-3 players and then hit the road with 7-8 guys. Just cut back on the hotel rooms and air fare. You don't cut back on meal money, how are the players supposed to play at a high level without eating? Some of these ABA guys are just dumb as hell.

Chuck - There is no need to check back with my source. I will stand by my initial statement. It's not my fault if you read it out of context. Like I said in there, the reason the Calvary were wearing the Xplosion's white jerseys is because Michael Ray stole their jerseys AFTER he was canned. I didn't say that was the reason he got fired. In fact if you go to the "Michael Ray is Gone" thread, my post on 12/16/07 at 6:42 pm will verify that I thought otherwise. In response to somebody's question about why he got fired, I said "Heavesrock, I have not been able to get any confirmation as to exactly why he has been fired. Knowing how Michael Ray is though, it wouldn't surprise me if he had gotten into it with management though. At this point, that is purely speculation though." Please don't take statements out of context Chuck.

First off, I have to have a chuckle from the article... "insignificant funds."

Otherwise, are we saying that Richardson's charges are basically off the wall?

psbf

why Richardson was fired, according to the Albany Times-Union, it was because he stood up for his players to the Oklahoma owner, demanding that they get paid before their trip here. But the league office claims they know nothing about it. So I guess it depends who you believe.

I don't think you can put a ton of stock into the Albany paper's story today. They tried to interview Hopgood for the story, but he gave the typical "internal issues" as the reason for Michael Ray being let go. While I suppose you can classify Michael Ray complaining to management about the alleged lack of payment to the players as internal issues, but again I think that there is more to this story. Clearly Michael Ray is going to make himself out to try and look like the good guy in this story. That is what he always does.

It seems to me that there are other ways for Richardson to demonstrate that he's "on the side of the players" without resorting to comments about "insignificant funds" and having not been paid. I'm trying to flesh that one out, find possible "other reasons" why THAT was brought up. Scientific method, if you will.

I suspect Richardson is too uncomplicated to make that one up.

I don't know what the actual scenario was, but when I think of M.R., I keep going back to last season's playoff Championship for which nothing would surprise me with his actions. While I admire the start that Oklahoma had to their season, I just don't trust Richardson. I hope for the best with the Cavalry, only after they leave here.

A little background....

When a minor league team goes on an extended road trip, the team must provide meal money. The team gives the coach enough for all the players to eat for the entire trip. If the trip was 10 days and there were 10 players being paid $25 a day per diem, the coach would expect the own to fork over $2500. The coach does not want to be placed in the middle of a uprising on day 3 of a ten day road trip because the players only had a $75 debit card for meals.

Now M.R. lacks elegance and grace i'm sure he was less than tactful when he addressed the owner about the fact that he did not want any part of the owners debit card idea.

If anybody stole the jerseys it's most likely the players that left the team.
I believe M.R. because most of his players walked with him.

P.S. - Who the heck is this Minor Leaguer anyway? Why the hell would Richardson steal some jerseys. Dude, it sounds (to me) like your source may freebass? The whole team left dude!!!! That fact seems to have escaped you and your source on the scene.

Bectond- I have heard from people that have talked directly with the Calvary owner that Michael Ray stole the uniforms. You clearly don't know the guy (Richardson) very well. He isn't exactly the most stable person on earth. I could easily see him blowing up after he realized that he was getting canned and took off with the jerseys.

Now it is time for your little lesson on minor league basketball. The assistant coach is usually the one in charge of keeping track of the uniforms. Now because Michael Ray's assistant left to coach the Silverados that would leave him in charge of the jerseys.

It wouldn't have been the players considering half the team that Michael Ray had was still on this road trip. So if that is the case, the other players who are still on the team would still have their jerseys. There goes your logic.

I think a better question, rather than trying to figure who took the uniforms, is what will the Cavalry do for their remaining games, what will they wear? Will they be borrowing other uniforms? They can't continue to borrow the Xplosion's old uniforms.

I think it takes a couple weeks to get new uniforms made. That could be a dicey couple weeks.

There's also the option of sending your practice uniforms FedEx to the next stop on the road trip.

That presumes Oklahoma's ownership has money to buy uniforms that they supposedly don't have to pay players. Well, the story at hand still isn't fleshed out... you know what I'm saying.

Of course, if Richardson did(take them), he has the decency to give them back that would save the Cavalry the trouble of having to re-order and wait.
