I'm writing from Birmingham, England. We have been following the creation of the Fort Worth/Texas Tycoons as their coach, Steve Tucker, was the coach of the Birmingham Bullets last season - the worst season in our history. He has announced the signing of DeRon Rutledge, who has played for Tucker twice in English teams, so naturally we're interested to see how well the Tycoons do. Unfortunately they appear to be having some trouble with their website as they've exceeded their bandwidth.
Can anyone post any info? Hope it's sorted by November, or I'll be asking for match reports and scores on this board.

Apparently their owner had an email address of igotdmoney@aol.com or something lame like that. Pretty much tells you all you need to know.
I wouldn't count on worrying too much about how well this team does this year.

You might guess when I'm talking about a coach who took our team to their worst ever season - finishing 10th in a league of 10, with a win/loss of, I think, 2-34 - I'm expressing an interest in coach Tucker only in the sense of "Can he really be that bad?"
He's coached in Britain three times and twice he didn't finish the season for "personal reasons".

If they could learn to spell "Cincinnati," their website would be improved.

Well, the team Tucker coached last season here in England have won their first game of the new season. One more win and they tie with Tucker's record.

The following is a quote from his bio on the Tycoons web site:
Coach Steve Tucker has been a winner and a champion both on and off the court for many years now. "I intend to continue my "tradition of excellence" with the Fort Worth Tycoons," says Coach Tucker.
In the first line it says he was named "Coach of the year" 6 times during his career. Of what, the team that he was coaching at the time? The other years I guess he came in second to the mascot, the dance team, the night janitor at the gym..............
Now, I've never known the ABA or it's franchises to make stuff up :P , so Brummie must be talking about a different Coach Tucker! No? Well, thats the ABA!
My favorite part is that "tradition of excellence" has " " marks around it. What kind of egomaniac refers to that things that he has done as a "tradion of excellence"? That's assuming that he even really said it and they didn't just make it up. The ABA wouldn't do that, would they? I guess they will forget about last year. After all it was waaaaaaay over there in England. No one on this side of the pond will ever know about that. Very Dixie Chickesque.

Believe me, it's the same Tucker - I've seen the pictures. To get a flavour of his coaching style, and his self-belief as his team is flushing down the toilet, visit icbirmingham.co.uk - the website of Birmingham's local paper and go to Birmingham Bullets under the sports section to see the archived reports on a team's worst ever season.

Irving - coach Tucker has had neither a happy nor a successful time in coaching in England.
How did he fare in the leagues you've mentioned? Does anyone have any information? Once again, it's hard to believe he's THAT bad.

Isn't this Tucker the same guy who coached the Wizards for one year during the IBA days, and was without question the laughing stock of the league?

That certainly doesn't get a mention in his biog on the Texas Tycoons site. But then, neither do his seasons in England. I can confirm he was a laughing stock here.

Just wanted to mention that as of today the Birmingham (UK) Bullets (on a tighter budget than last season) have won their second game and tied with Coach Tucker's record for last season. And I forgot to mention that one of his wins came last season when he was back home in the States and the Assistant Coach had the playbook - so I suppose you could say Bullets are already 100% better without him!!

In fairness, I see Coach Tucker has won the first two games of the season.
