Could the CBA simply absorb the Canadian teams (which appear to be solid) along with Manchester and create a new division of teams in the Northeast? With Montreal, Quebec and Halifax and their new charter deal, it may not be as expensive as in the past to get teams there.
I would assume the schedule could be worked out to allow the "western" teams to make one loop through there for the season, and vice versa, like the USBL does.

bringing those teams in would be pretty cool to see. not a bad idea. on a side note, winnipeg had a somewhat successful iba team at one time . . . . that's a city of a million people with little or no opps to see basketball. there would be a logical addition to the notion of a canadian subdivision.
the idea! The CBA has said they want to expand to international, so what a better way to start than our Northern neighbors, and teams like Halifax, Montreal and Quebec have proven successfull, in the ABA. It would be nice to see them join(imo).

If they are going to expand to Canada they better have 4-6 franchises.... with the new passport laws and all the other bs with crossing the borders it better be worth it so you would need a fair amount of teams to make it work and if possible would have to try to get them in an area for legit road trips....

Quebec and Montreal have about 2 cents to there names...in the basketball world, many know that.
Maybe Ricardo can promise them something.

The Montreal owners Hummer got re-po'ed during a game last season. They aren't exactly packing them in to the arena. I'd say they are surviving.
Winnipeg had the Winnipeg Thunder of the old IBA and NBL days. That was a good time. I lived in Winnipeg for 3 years in the early 90's. The guy that ran the Winnipeg Thunder was Sam Katz. Sam is now the owner of the Winnipeg Goldeyes of the NL independant baseball and also the mayor of Winnipeg.
I think a Canadian division would work in the East. If you got Montreal, Quebec and Halifax together with a Ottawa and Hamilton. Problem is, its just as difficult and expensive to get to Halifax from Canada as it is from the USA, sometimes more so.
