Steve Tucker fired from the RGV Silverados head coaching position. OK Cavs assistant Derrick Rowland named head coach.
the Silverados earned their first win tonight.

The Silverados blamed the wrong guy when they fired David Sykes. There are talented players on that team but Tucker threw them under the bus early and often, and as a result he lost them and all his games.
I'll miss David, but I'm looking forward to seeing a rejuvenated Silverado team this Wednesday.

You're getting a quality coach in Derrick Rowland. He subbed for Micheal Ray Richardson for several games during the last two seasons when Richardson was Patroons head coach. He was the coach when Albany defeated Rockford for the first time in the 2005-06 season, after Chris Daleo made a crack about the Patroons that, after beating the Pats four times in a row, he said that he hoped he never lost to the Pats ever again (something to do with Micheal Ray Richardson and some handshakes that were never extended). Last year, after MRR was suspended in the playoffs, Rowland nearly stole Game 2 of the Albany-Yakama finals (and if Carl Mitchell and Felipe Lopez hadn't tried to beat each other's skulls in, we could have won it).
As a player, Rowland's learned under Phil Jackson, George Karl, Gerald Oliver and Charley Rosen, four quality CBA coaches. With his hiring, the CBA now has five head coaches with NBA playing experience (Rowland, Micheal Ray Richardson, Vince Askew, Scott Wedman, Kenny Anderson), that's half the teams in the league.
Plus, the guy has over 5,000 points and is among the top ten scorers in the CBA's modern era.

I got the chance to speak with Coach Rowland and he seems like a great guy that isnt scared to take chances and make changes. Mike Dean is a great player but they could use just a lil help, but good look to coach Rowland this season
