His name caught my eye this morning... A nice article about the former CBA player for those who say that no one who plays in the CBA makes it to the bigs anymore.

Nice story, but he is definitely in the minority when it comes to CBA-to-NBA call-ups in the last few years..

I noticed that also. He has become a fan favorite in Toronto. I've been following him all season. He have some great highlights. Just search Jamario Moon on youtube and you will find plenty of his NBA highlights. He recently set a RAptors record with at least 1 block in 12 straight games.

I knew that Moon was with the Raptors, but I haven't paid enough attention to the NBA this season to know how well he's doing. I'll have to start following his progress. I love to see former CBA and D-League players succeed in the NBA.

Thanks for posting this article.

Moon is doing well, his coach went through the CBA as a player and has love for guys that take the tough route. Moon was signed as a free agent not affiliated with the CBA.

i too saw the yahoo! story about jamario. i get a lot of toronto programming on my dish and he's quickly become a fan favorite. as the article states he's been starting too. one of his dunks is featured on a frequently-run promo for the raptors. he's definitely ''made it''.

I had Jamario on my team in Dodge City for three games back in 2002. He only played three games for us, but I said back then that he was the best player ever to wear a Dodge City Legend uniform and I still believe it five years later. He was unbelievable, but would have been in the NBA five years ago if he had not blown us off and left with no notice. That, coupled with a horrible work ethic in practice in the D-league back then hurt his progress. He also played for the Globetrotters when he should have been playing competitive ball. It was great to see how much he had grown up when he played in the USBL last summer... and it's better still to seem him succeeding in the NBA.

(Hopefully there's not another thread about this, I didn't see one)

Moon has been selected to be part of the Slam Dunk contest as part of this year's NBA All-Star weekend. I don't follow the NBA too much, but it seems he's really doing well with Toronto. He's currently ranked #3 among rookies on the NBA's website.

Nice to see a former CBA-er (and other ML-er) succeeding at that level.

Good for him! I'll have to tune in. I don't watch much NBA, but I usually at least watch All-Star Weekend and this gives me even more reason to watch.

Yeah he played in Gary this past USBL season. It is great to see a guy with character. He also seemed to be a great team player. He did not stop smiling either. He participated in a half time dunk contest at halftime on fan appreciation day. Unfortunately for him he kept missing. It was hilarious but he just laughed at himself and kept smiling. He seems like a great guy.

Jamario played for the Rome Gladiators back in '05 in well, another league. Everytime he got the ball, everyone in the arena was on their feet, and he always made time for the fans after the games.

I read that he had been with some 20 teams in various leagues over the last 8 years, I'm glad his road has finally taken him to the top. I also read that his contract is worth just over 400k per year for two years. I think it's safe to say that his next deal will have an extra 0.

Pardon The Interruption on ESPN just did their role play segment and Michael Wilbon was pretending to be Jamario Moon (holding Moon's photo in front of his face). He talked about how he worked his way up from Jr. College, to the CBA Patroons, etc...

God recognition there although Kornheiser kept saying stuff like "Who's this guy?", "I wouldn't know him if he walked in", "What's he doing in the slam dunk contest"...
