View Full Version : Xplosion; good team, bad support
I'm still upset about last night's loss to Minot. The Skyrockets are a good team, but I was hoping to see the Xplosion capitalize on the travel misfortunates, suffered by both sides by the weather, on the way here.
The X are 5-1 at the Petersen Events Center, but still winless at Mellon Arena, going back to last season-which ended on a sweep by Minot.
Chuck goes to Albany Patroon games and provides very good pictures of their games. I go to the Xplosion games, but I've yet to figure out how to post pictures on here. My grudge is for those who doubt about my going to the X games. I have given no reason for you to doubt me, despite my describing my experiences there. I treat people the way they treat me. If you have something against me, for no reason, then expect the same back. But I also believe that communication is important.
That's just a little about me, because nobody knows anything about anyone aside from their posts, on here.
Unfortunately, the Xplosion do not promote their games, leaving it up to word of mouth, although I have sent them some ideas on how to help attract fans.
by the way, I should ad that Great Falls only had 500 for the Explorers opener vs. Yakama and drew 225 vs. Oklahoma(first game).

I hope the Xplosion gets the fans they deserve, they are a great ball team and deserve more fans IMO.
and thanks, Nubb16. They are, which is what gets to me. They had a chance to prove it on our home court last night vs. the Skyrockets. And we let it get away. Hopefully, the X can get a win on Saturday. Another bad thing was that the paper had the games being down as tonight and tomorrow night.

I've yet to figure out how to post pictures on here.
First upload your images to a free image hosting site like imageshack (http://imageshack.us/) or myspace for that matter. Than copy the direct link to the image and push the little add image button that looks like a mountain range on here. Paste the image link and you are done.

What happened that Minot only had five players show up for the game? You mentioned travel. I thought all the players traveled together. Thanks.
MJ.
What happened, LPB, was that both teams only had enough for their starting lineup by game time. According to what I read on the X website, the remainding players had to take a later flight because of bad weather. So those players finally arrived in the second half. But still, we should have grounded the rockets. Hopefully, we'll do it tomorrow night(Sat.). I'll be in attendence(as always).

have been sad, I missed the opener but the last two games against Oklahoma were smaller than any games I went to last year.
They haven't been advertising much and Coach isn't playing the local favorite very much either. I hope they get it turned around, by the end of last season, the Explorers were a great spot for entertainment.

The great falls explorers games last year had many games with at least 800 people there, this years average is like 300. I was a big fan last year but in the offseason they had a chance to hire scottie pippen as coach, which they didnt do. They also wasted their #1 pick on a native montanan who was no business in the cba.. and to top that off they released the most exciting player, and fan favorite from last years team because he got injured during training camp. Coach wedman told this player that he didnt get to look at him enough so they released him...He was good enough to start on last years team which had much better, and more talented players than this years team.
This player is Marlyn Bryant, or better known to true explorers fans, High flyin marlyn bryant.. So attendence is down and the organization deserves it after an off-season of bone head moves...

Just something i forgot to add they Wedmen sent Bryant home because he didnt get to look at him enough, but Stand came to Great Falls the last day of training camp and made the team....

I agree...the Marlyn Bryant situation was rough, I know that was a decision that coach made on his own. Team management had been talking up bringing Bryant back all summer, I think they were a little shell shocked when he was cut. Strand was a no brainer as he was a great leader and a great player, but Marlyn should be there as well.
Mike Chavez is a rookie and a good player, he might need some work but it is great to have some local talent on the team. Good for Mike and the Explorers for seeing it through.

Montana Fella thank you for supporting Maryln, and i must correct myself that i said stuff about Chavez without attending a game i went to last weekends games and he is not too bad out there, the sad thing is that he is about the 4th best player on the explorers.

and I almost forgot that Eric Strand was released last weekend, because he is not one of the guys that Wedman brought up here.

According to the this article: http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/sports/s_542337.html
in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review tonight, the Xplosion had a whopping 401 fans at their game on Monday night. Clearly psbf has been right all along when people have posted pics of Xplosion games and they have been empty, yet he claims that the fans were on the other side and out of view in the picture. Well I guess at least that is more than the 200 fans they are getting in Great Falls. Then again Great Falls is under new ownership and their GM resigned. What is Pittsburgh's excuse?
your constant reminders, Leaguer, about our attendence. I see them at every game!! And I don't owe you, or anyone else, an 'excuse' for it!! As I've said, we have a much improved team over last season, why don't you spend your posts mentioning that?!
There are so many other, more meaningfull, topics to discuss.

I'm sorry, we prefer to discuss the giant elephant in the parlor that is Pittsburgh's attendance woes.

Congrats psbf, the Xplosion have "much improved" from last season. Of course that wouldn't take a whole lot considering how they finished last season. If you are happy with a record that is under .500, I guess that says a lot about your expections for the Xplosion.
