The GBA Principals have been contacted to form an LLC for a new fall-winter basketball league. As a true LLC, Members of the LLC will be involved in aspects of managing the league and have the option of naming new management if they choose. The attorneys are drawing up all the paperwork and it will comply with all securities laws and statutes. We will play with a red, white, and blue basketball, be affordable, fan friendly, and follow international rules along with an additional rule change in the final 2 minutes. The office is in a commercial building-no residential area- in the heart of Buckhead (Atlanta), Georgia -While we will not "steal" teams from other leagues, any existing team is welcome provided they meet LLC Member criteria. This league will exist in addition to the GBA. For additional information, email office@aABAhoops.com

My friend says that the new fall-winter league will be called "All-American Basketball Alliance"-do you think it will be able to replace the ABA? They even are thinking of the fall-winter women's league-I wonder if they can pull it off?

sorry to disappoint you but there are several businesses here that use same servers. there is wireless in the building as well as shared cable modem. one of my tenants, snappy auctions, actually had a problem with me bidding on ebay items because ebay thought it was "shill bidding" because they checked the ip address. if you check on it-you will see we have the same street address-and their store is in front of my office-and unsecured wifi. it is a fact that their manager is a huge hoops fan and knows i have the gba. i have turned alot of people on to this site. sorry to disappoint you but there is real interest in the gba-and when do we get listed-how many teams do we need to get a link? :) hey-"snappy auctions" can actually verify we have a real office in Buckhead!

Then it seems that sarge would have an easier time walking down the hall to ask you directly rather than posting questions on a message board.

I do not release information on teams anymore unless EVERYTHING is in order-I saw your "phantom teams" list-I have no desire to be on it. I will not be making the same mistakes as before or the ones that other leagues are making-by posting information too quickly-so he would be wasting his time and mine. I will respond to all postings on OSC in due time-

I heard that the Eggplants are looking into invading the "ALL-American Basketball Alliance" with their brand of slow paced beer loving basketball, if they can not get a suspended ABA franchise for the low introductory rate of $19.95.

I hear the owner has been putting in 20 hours days, attempting to come up with 30 alternate user names to promote his website - veggies and basketball.com. Do you think the AABA will play this fall-winter? I hear the Eggplants owner is looking at all the newly formed leaques, and depending on which minor leaque decides to drop it's franchise fee below $20 he'll do one of the following:
1- Nothing
-OR-
2- Something.

Before evolving into the GBA late in 2001, it was the American Basketball Alliance (The Deuce), which used the "ABA" initials as a way to be associated compete with the recently formed ABA2000. The Alliance planned to start with a fall/winter 2001-02 season. There was also the proposed International Basketball Union (IBU), which was to be the summertime league and the Alliance was to be the fall/winter league. There was even talk back then of the Alliance/IBU getting involved in a working relationship with the ABA2000 and a pro women's basketball league to gain more exposure for minor league basketball.

Dan, you are right but at that time, it became apparent that minor league hoops was spinning out of control. Leagues were popping up like pansies in manure. It was at that time that we decided to get off the ship-and once enough others sank, there would be more room in the ocean.
To settle things, the IBU-International Boxing Union was to be a clearinghouse for players-and feed them to both our GBA and AABA-obviously, it did not happen for several reasons.
Ragarding the ABA Alliance, we were going to be a feeder league for the ABA2000 but things fell apart between the 2 entities. The NBA sent us a letter expressing their concern for two "ABA"s being in the market-so we changed the name to GBA. We were going to go head to head against the ABA2000 but decided to go for the spring-summer season instead.
During that year, teams were raided from the GBA to other leagues, promised thngs that could not be done, and they subsequently folded. Joe and I have had multiple conversations about trying to get GBA players an inside track to the ABA and have now finally reached an accord. It benefits players and coaches more than anyone else.
Regarding the women's league, we were going to be the season that the WNBA played and work an arrangement with the NWBL-but they also ceased operations with their women's professional teams.
I hope this clears things up. We are glad to be back and look forward to this upcoming season.

Well spotted Paul. I'll give Moose props for doing a better job of coming up with an explanation than the Corning Taxpayer, who claimed the kid who mowed his lawn broke into his house, fired up the computer and posted on here.
