GUAYNABO (FIBA Americas League) - Cangrejeros de Santurce have their hopes alive for a quarterfinal berth in the FIBA Americas League after dominating the PBL All Stars 97-73 to close day 2 of competition. This was the return for Robert Traylor who could not play on day 1.

The host team, who face Metros de Santiago today, being forced to win in order to qualify, had a better effort on defense as they did it for 40 minutes and their opponents could not defend with sucess as Ricardo Dalmau penetrated with ease and PBL shot only 34.7% from the field.

Santurce guard Eddin "Guayito" Santiago had a colossal performance with 5 assists and 8 steals.

At the start the PBL All Stars started with a 6-0 run and coach Tony Ruiz called a time out and the rest was history with Alex Falcon as their best performer with 12 points and 7 rebounds.

The spark for Cangrejeros in the first half, that they dominated 49-37, was Traylor who grabbed 7 rebounds. Ricardo Dalmau had 11 points and for PBL Josh Tinch had 10.

With 8:52 left in the game there was an altercation between Richie Dalmau and Jeremiah Russell as the North American players fell on the floor.

Tony Ruiz, coach of Santurce, was pleased with the collective performance of the team. "We played as we are, a family. The entrance of Robert (Traylor) changed the player's spirit. The enthusiasm was inmediate in them".

Traylor was thankful for being back and if he does not have work in the NBA he will return to Santurce to defend the title won over Capitanes de Arecibo.

Ricky Benítez, PBL coach, said "It will be difficult to beat Soles de Mexicali".
