Australian RUGBY?

Do you mean Australian FOOTBALL?

I believe, and I could be wrong, but the big Australian rugby league plays "rugby league" and not "rugby union." Am I wrong? Are you basically referring to "rugby league" with 6 "downs" and less scrums?

I know England has competitions for both league and union. Just wondering if you know the Australian game, not to mention what they'll be playing in Ontario.

(Oddly, if I were more of a fan, I'd consider myself a union fan.)

Unless the league he is referring to is being populated by offshoot clubs, this is Aussie Rules Football. Nice to see Ottawa get a club in this league. When I lived in Toronto I contacted the Downtown Dingos to play and was told club fees were in the neighborhood of $1000. Sadly, that is too rich for my blood to play a game I've never played before.

Also, both codes of rugby are played in Australia. The only reason League seems bigger is that Rupert Murdock runs the NRL and it has the backing of Foxtel. The national Union side are the current World Cup champs.
