In the story on the Great Falls home opener...
Tuckman said he wasn't sure how many season tickets have been sold, or how many sponsors were lined up.
"Normally, by now in this business, you would have 70 to 80 percent of your revenue on the books," he said. "I've got zero revenue on the books."
I know the guy has a bad reputation from the ABA, and people don't want to hear excuses, but he's right about this. A successfully-run team generates most of its revenues from season ticket sales and sponsorships obtained before the season starts. Earning interest on that money provides some vig that can be the difference between profit and loss for a marginal enterprise.
