I thought it was someones fantasy league, but it looks like theyre serious - seriously dilusional. Nothing says football like anime logos.

...those logos have got to go. You just don't decide to give logos to teams that technically don't exist. By the way, in what cities are the teams going to play?

"Currently, the system used to evaluate talent for professional football is seriously flawed. Many young athletes who aspire to play professional football are subject to college discrimination. Simply put, if they haven’t attended a division 1 school, in most cases they are never given a legitimate opportunity. In addition, some of these athletes are barred because they may lack one or more of the following categories: star quality, statistical measurements, political sports connections, and/or appropriate financial resources."
And these guys can do better? Most non-D-I guys are passed over because they don't have the talent. Otherwise they'd be D-I guys. Yes, you get some D-II, D-III and NAIA players that occasionally make it to the NFL.
Yes, to the NFL size matters. NFL teams don't draft a lot of 5-9 quarterbacks or 220-pound offensive linemen because not many make it. I've been around small-college (NAIA) football in central Kansas for more than 20 years. We've had a couple of players out of the KCAC make it to NFL camps. A running back from Ottawa Univ. has been in NFL camps and even made the roster for the Giants and Jets. We had a fullback from Tabor make it to the final cut for the Packers and he went off to AF2.
The KCAC has sent a number of players to af2 and the APFL, but that's about the level they deserve to be at.
"star quality, statistical measurements, political sports connections, and/or appropriate financial resources."
In reality, statistical measurements are the biggest thing the NFL looks for. They feel like they can train you if you have the physical tools. I'm sure there are a lot of college players deluding themselves that it's all the other factors that are against them, but all the NFL wants to know is height, weight, time in the 40, agility and strength. Then they are going to start looking at how intelligent a player you are (can you learn and understand an NFL playbook, not the easiest task in the world). Then they will look at personality, ability to stay focused, maturity and composure.
Finally, (the deep dark secret of the NFL) are you willing to play cheap? In these days of the salary cap, not everyone in the NFL plays for $10 million a year. Some play for minimum scale (which is still a nice six figures a year). The superstars get theirs, but everyone else has to fit under the cap.
Sounds to me like another brand of kool aid.
Here endeth the rant.
I'll be rooting for this team. Whatever, wherever it is.

They have the division already aligned, but never say what cities they are going to be located in. This looks like an Football Mogul 2007 fantasy league to me.

While it is a sharp looking website (I like the rams head), there is little actual information. Maybe this is someone's college web design class project.
I did a reverse search on the contact numbers and the 877 number was not found while the fax number belongs to someone who's address is in rural Connecticut (thank you Google Earth).
Hey, I like daydreaming about having my own league, too.

I wrote the UNFL, and this is their response:
"The 22 markets that our teams will be in have either NFL or major college football affiliation.
We are keeping the names of the teams and the actual cities “confidential” for review ONLY by individuals or entities that are interested in team ownership.
If you are seriously interested in a team ownership opportunity please submit the following to me:
- personal profile with your contact information including mailing address.
- business & sports background that we can used to evaluate your capabilities as a potential team owner.
- complete, sign & fax back the attached non-disclosure agreement to 203-225-6381.
Upon receipt of the above, will send you our team owner executive summary which outlines the cost & benefits of team ownership in the UNFL.
Regards,
Ben"
So this league looks like it's for real, but they are holding the locations/names confidential. Unfortunately, the markets aren't minor-league cities (sounds redundant to me, with the NFL and UFL, but let's hope for more outdoor legit football minor leagues). We'll have to wait and see when the franchise locations/names are going to be announced.

I still doubt the legitimacy of this league.
