Have there been any rumblings/rumors about relocations/expansion for the 2008-2009 season? I would love to see another northeastern team (Vermont?) and the return of Indiana (though it would have been better if Gary or Rockford or Grand Rapids would come back in that area).

Haven't heard much other than possibly merging with the PBL.

And what teams would come over from the PBL which would add to the CBA?
1 - Rochester Razorsharks
2 - Arkansas Impact
3 - ? ? ? ? ?

Generally speaking, people in Gary aren't interested in buying tickets for leagues like the NBADL and especially the current CBA. Too many people (even those driving Cadillac CTS's) want free tickets for minor league basketball--and that attitude isn't going to change. We have a different set of priorities here. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but we have a different set of financial priorities all the same. A less expensive league like the IBL may work for the Steelheads though.

Gary is prime hockey territory. An untapped resource.

Rich people are rich because they dont spend their inherited money and want everything for free or cheap [services as well] (if you can figure out the racist word I wont post you get 10pts).

On another note - No offense but Gary is prime getting shot territory.

The only "rumor" I think is still Vancouver, etc. all the teams that guy supposedly is bringing in....dont hold your breath though.

...and prime hockey and minor league baseball territory. Fans are willing to brave taking a bullet if it's Fireworks Friday or Thirsty Thursdays. Those are popular nights. 8)

An example of Ignorance is when someone makes a blanket about a segment of the population...

Unless you meant in your opinion....and if that is the case, you need to get out more.

If you work hard and make money you get to decide where to spend it. Pretty simple that is Capitalism, that is the USA.

then you better take another look at what socialists think about pro-sports and the money these athletes make. Worng thread to admit your a socialist.

The whole concept of sporting events is the antithesis of socialism. The sports arena is highly competitive and only the fittest win. Ownership of victory titles is reserved only to those who work hard for them. No team has any community right or ownership of victory titles. Teams do not share victory titles. Teams who study and work hard to develop new concepts to win by defeat those teams who are satisfied with the status quo. Thus, sports represents the concepts of free enterprise. Free enterprise is also known by a word generally used with negative connotations - capitalism. Free enterprise sounds too good to be against it but capitalism can be presented in such a negative way that it is easy to be against it.

...and yet...

...why is it that socialist countries (plus Europe, since I can tell most of us are having fun with the stereotype game) seem to have more capitalist sports structures, while America, the bastion of capitalism, essentially has cartels that shut out competition as much as possible, especially considering baseball's anti-trust exemption?

Logo IS probably over-generalizing... but you should look at 20 years of "corporate welfare" to understand that there ARE rich people playing this amazing game with your tax money and getting the blame put on government when things go wrong. That argument certainly extends to sports, BTW.

BTW- I'm not a socialist, but I believe government should have a mission to mitigate the population being dominated by corporate interests... and it's been failing at that. Citizen trumps consumer.

Government is a business and idealist tend to be bad business men.

As for A1 social Darwinist rant, America is dualistic and practices a federal form of government.
Yeah, you will never see the federal government bail-out a sports franchise. But state and local governments throw out a life preserver all the time. In fact, I’ll have to second POUNDERS statement. Sports is a fine example of corporate welfare. The Joe Newman practices capitalism, but the Maloof brothers practice corporate socialism.
