Marbury's Father Passed Away Tonight

Just read an article saying that Stephon Marbury's father passed away tonight. I'm guessing that's Zech Marbury's father as well. You hate to hear something like that. In case you haven't caught on to why that's significant, Zech is a starting guard for the Atlanta Krunk - we played them tonight, and we play them again tomorrow. My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to them and their family. Stuff like that really puts life in perspective!

Who the heck is feeding you your info Standard? Zeck didn't go anywhere. He was at the shoot-around today at 10am, and he was at the game. Besides...there's no such thing as a quick flight out of Pikeville (2 hours to the closest airport). He did play a much better game than the first, scoring 31 points. I'm sure his father would have been proud (prouder if he got the win, but he played well nonetheless). He gave us trouble all night.

i know zeck said on Sunday that he was leaving. then today i was told that he was there in NYC. I guess i should hear it from the man himself.

Also, was the Krunk's ownership around? Like Mr. Williams or Hughes?

And if this team really does have a money problem, wouldn't Kenny Anderson pay these guys?

Zeck has always had the potential to be better than Stephon. But right after Steph left Lincoln High. The bar was put too high for Zeck to reach. It was not only the school, but the coach, the media, the high school league.

His value dropped (due to him "not being what everyone wanted", he went to URI which was pretty good at the time when many though that he should have gone to Georgia Tech or to St. John's<--(Worst move any NYC guy can do is go to St. John's)

I always thought that Zeck was a better player that Stephon and many thought he was better than the rest of the brothers and his cousins.

An in regards of the Marbury's so many people hate them yes, they rub people the wrong way. But, they are really good guys. Just very ultra competitive and yes they do think about themselves well this goes towards Stephon more than Zeck. The other brothers really were not that way, actually they have always been humble to many of these things.

Also any native New Yorker that has good or great basketball skills should never ever play in New York in the pro or college level. The media kills you.

Although there has been exceptions to the rule such as in College but damn that beyond over 20 years in the case of Chris Mullin but then he went to Golden State.

Also, is the Professor still with the team or was he being paid per appearance?

Thursday they will either have no team or a totally new group of hungry and poor players trying to get a shot at the BIGS. I know 2 out of their top 3 scorers will leave if they do not get paid Thursday.

This is worse than watching the train wrecks Anna Nicole and Brittany!

MadUps, you touch on a key point that I believe few others who post here actually get. That is, it is easy to spend someone else's money. Now having said, many of the people in this game have no business starting teams because they don't have the financial wherewithal to pull it off, which is a disservice to the players, fans, and the "leagues" they're in. My guess is that few here actually write the checks. Relative to the "rich people" discussion from earlier today, I actually have never met a "rich" person who didn't work their arse off to get it.

I follow every pro league carefully, especially when Im looking for talent.

Theres not a player that I dont follow when I need to look for one.

Also the CBA is a league i've always followed for years. We are talking about the days of the CBA when they were the NBDL of its time.

I was also an intern for the Connecticut Pride in 96 and 97. I wanted to learn how a team operates.

Minor league basketball is a very hard venture to get in to.

The economics of being an owner is very complex and very hard for any one to undertake. The CBA tells potential owners that you will lose money in your first year. I tell everyone you will lose money all of the time in some type of aspect. In minor league basketball, the loses are always, every year. So many factors that you have to account for its not funny at all.

Oh and more in regards of the CBA. I followed the Patroons very well during the two seasons before I left New York. Made trips to go see them. 3 1/2-4 hour ride never bothered me to see good basketball.

Unlike a league called the ABA.

Do I follow the D-league since there's two teams in So-Cal? Yes. Especially Anaheim because of Guillermo Diaz

I have college friends that meet me over there since they either live in the Plattsburgh, Utica or Albany region. So we make it a couple of days there of hanging out.

I also went to see a Yakama game last year at Yakama since i was in Seattle and decided ok why not go and see a game.

I also did see games of the CBA's Puerto Rico Coquis in 1983/1984 :-)
