Anyone think Atlanta will beat us?
that it will be an exciting game and the Miners stand a good chance of winning.

It'll be tough if we have to sit McLeish and Northern. Those guys really help when it comes to handling the ball against pressure. Someone else is really gonna have to step up and handle the ball for us to win. I don't feel that scoring will be an issue, as we have some great scorers (Pace, Barnes, Jackson)
website has this game startinig at 7:30, but the schedule and the Miners website has it at 4. No minute by minute stat sheets for this(only game today) so I'm hoping the Miners tv will be available.
It's tough for the Xplosion as both teams(3-4) sandwich us in the standings so I don't know who to root for.

Even without McLeish and Northern, the Miners should prevail in both games. It's hard to get a full effort out of a team when they are getting paid like Atlanta.

Well I'll tell you this... the Krunk almost took this game, they were leading at the quarter and the half, but the Miners came back and took the contest 117-114 [4.5-2.5]. Right now if the All-Star balloting were to take place today, Josh Pace and James "Boo" Jackson would be on the list - Jackson had a season-high 39 points, while Pace nailed a triple-double of 26 points, 14 boards, 10 assists.

IMO, they deserve it for their efforts in all of EK's wins!! Josh can flat take over a game, and Boo's baby hook and post moves are some of the best I've seen.

Also, with the suspensions and such, the Miners activated Daniel Price, a Pikeville College (local private college) graduate. He really put in some quality minutes, and finished with 9 pts and 3 rebounds!

'd say a little over 1,000. Crowd was small at first, but about the 2nd quarter, I looked up and the place was much more full. I didn't catch the numbers though. Good game, good crowd, and, more importantly, a LOUD, excited crowd. We've got lots of fans!

A few observations from watching the webcast:
1. Atlanta has a pretty good team. They get up and down the floor very well, and EK had a hard time stopping them down low.
2. The webcasts are very well done, but the radio broadcast wasn't piped in for the 2nd half for some reason.
3. Jay Fiedler impressed very much from what I saw of him in the webcast. He was up in the VIP room talking to the fans, and seemed like a very nice person.
4. The PA announcer and dance team member talking got a bit on my nerves with their constant requests for the fans to make noise, sing along to the music, and stand up. Some noise requests are OK but singing along to music is somewhat annoying. The PA announcer also would try to drag out his words too much and you wouldn't be able to understand what he was saying.
5. Harry the Hardhat is quite the entertaining mascot.

EK has by far the best webcast i have seen... i enjoyed watching the game today. The announcer is a bit annoying, but does a good job. The dance team is a little too high school cheerleaderish but all n all, good game, great coverage! way to go EK staff.
the sports section of WYMT TV news, who reported over 1,300 for the game.
to the Miners hosting the Krunk again, the Xplosion will be hosting the Patroons tonight(which I'll be attending). So 4 of the 5 Atlantic Division teams will be in action.

...though it might not in another market. These teams aren't cookie-cutter.
Any chance the Krunk will end up operated by the CBA and moved to another market?

Didn't happen last year for Utah Eagles. I'd have my doubts. Depends on how much investment the new owners have made in the league overall.

Last night's game was the first I was able to attend, and boy was I impressed. Both teams played an exciting, up and down the court brand of basketball and the game was very entertaining. The crowd was really into it and we were able to squeak out the win. Boo Jackson was the man, scoring 39 points. He went down hurt toward the end of the game and the guy behind was saying "please God, not Boo". Luckily it appears he just got hit in the eye and it wasn't anything serious. The PA and today's paper both said that the crowd was 1,346. I don't know if that was paid attendence or the actual crowd. Overall, the Miners are a class operation who put on a great show for the fans and I hope that more people in the community will get behind them and give them the support to be successful.

IMHO . . .
1. We have a VERY ENTERTAINING (if not the best) mascot that I've ever seen. He's great! Sunday vs Krunk he took my wife's popcorn and tried to throw it in my mouth . . . .
2. Our owners (Fiedler and Ford) are great guys. They are in it for the team and the fans, and I feel that they are both interested in our area and the success of the team here.
3. Yes, our PA is a bit lacking. On another note, our dance team captain should NOT be allowed near a mic. Nuff said.
GO MINERS!
announce the crowd during the game, it's overall(total).
Our PA guy used to be the same, often giving tmi(too much info) and doing a lot of what yours does. Last season he seemed to mature some and this season he gives info on upcoming games, which he had never done before.
Unfortunately, the X do not promote themselves(I've not seen any) nor does the Univ of Pgh, despite having some graduates on the team.
There are plenty of Basketball fans around here and I think the X need to tap into the schools again, which I've suggested.

Another exciting game tonight, Crowd was reported at 1094. Probably 700 there. We squeaked out another on 109-103. Pace had 28 and our new addition the local kid Daniel Price came off the bench for 17. Way to go MINERS!!!!

Actually to add to the sweetness, Pace had ANOTHER triple double . . . that's back to back triple doubles for him. 28 pts, 14 rebounds, 13 assists.

Hopefully he won't get snagged by the NBA too fast. He would be hard to replace!

zeke41, if you think that a CBA player is going to get called up to the NBA this season, you are sorely mistaken. Maybe you didn't pay attention last season, but NBA teams seem to has strict orders not to pick up CBA players. The lone exception was Jamario Moon, who didn't get offered a contract in the NBA until well after both the NBA and CBA seasons were done.
MJHankel

Technically Jamario Moon got picked up after the end of the USBL season. In which he played for the Gary Steelheads. So that fits with your statement that the NBA has strict regulations not to pick a player up from the CBA. He was last in the USBL.

I just don't know.
Moon played summer league after the USBL, and got picked up by Toronto.

There were a few in training camp. Wouldn't surprise me to see some called up, even if Stern doesn't like it.
players have to go to the Development League to be called up to the NBA:(
Minor Leaguer

psbf- No, players DO NOT have to be in the NBDL to get called up to the NBA. Having said that though, it was found out last season, that basically David Stern sent a signal to the entire NBA that if players were to be called up, it would be from the D League and not the CBA.
MJHankel & panchess- you are both right that the last league that Jamario Moon played in was the USBL, but at the same point, the league where he got noticed was in the CBA. If you have any doubts about that, I will gladly find the link from the Toronto newspaper and post it. Just let me know.
Personally, I think Stern is being a little too stern. But glad to see the CBA is getting noticed.
Chuck the Writer

It's not whether David Stern is being too "stern." Until the most recent NBA collective bargaining agreement, which allowed the NBA to store extra players on D-League squads, the CBA and D-League were equalling the same amount of call-ups per year.
However, after the 2005-06 season, when Stern and the D-League poached Sioux Falls, Dakota, Idaho and the expansion Colorado franchise, it put a severe hurt on the CBA. But the CBA has withstood worse body blows in 62 seasons and is still around today.
As for the NBA embargo, if teams out there don't notice guys like Josh Pace, Daryan Selvy and Jason Forte right under their noses, they're missing out on some fine CBA talent out there. And there's more to come as the season progresses.

They will just sign them to NBDL Contracts and then toss them 10 day contracts later on
zeke41

Not without buying them out of their CBA contracts, so it really doesn't matter!
MadUps

First and foremost, in every CBA contract there is a clause stating that if the athlete is called up to the NBA from the CBA, the player will have to pay the CBA 5k to 7k (off the top of my head) to be released from the CBA contract.
Also, if there is someone talented enough, I would think that NBA scouts would take the player from wherever he is playing regardless of David Stern's opinion. Teams are businesses too and they all want to win.

geez, I sure do hope that your guy Tom Sadler gets called up from ALbany. Judging from his numbers and how you talk up the guy, he must really be good. P.S. I wonder how the Atlanta brass feels about you and your player when you post on here about how bad the Atlanta situation is. Just some ramdom thoughts this morning over coffee.

Hmmmmm. I don't know about MadUps' response, but if the Atlanta brass was tardy with MY pay then I could care less what they thought about anything. That's me though. 8)
I'm disappointed in the Krunk only because they are not successful enough for me to go through my usual (See, I told you that wouldn't work) routine. Their antics make it too easy for me to say much. 8)

It is nice to see that your lack of intelligence doesn't stop you from posting meaningless, non-information on here. Keep up the good work one-way!
My first concern is for the player...Right is right, contract is signed someone needs to be paid.
But let's talk about what you know....janitors are all Union employees right?
Try to post information that helps people on here...I am trying to use small words for you...Don't post doo doo? Understand?
Thanks Ken...Some of these guys need to get out in front of the computer and start living in the REAL world.

Well considering that the Patroons announced Tom Sadler would be placed on injured reserve, effective today...

Groin injury since week one. No excuses for him though. He didn't put up numbers. We will see where he ends up. If Wright is a bust, who knows?
It is nice to be writing both those names in the same post. No one heard of Sadler before...
