The Toronto based Original Stars League (OSHL) kicked off its 4 on 4-6 team hockey league season Friday night with Toronto beating Detroit by a score of 16-13 in front of 2,176 fans who paid $34 to $60 a seat. There were a total of 112 shots in the game. Winning goalie for the Toronto team was Dan Cloutier and the losing goalie was Andrew Raycroft. Brian Willsie scored 4 goals. This league does not allow checking, line changes are made only on the fly and penalties result in penalty shots rather than a man setting in the penalty box. Periods are 17 minutes and shootouts follow each period. Not exactly low scoring games, but the fans will see a lot of shots, scoring and hustle when they watch the teams in this league.

Does this league have a website?

Yes it does go to OSHL.ca That is the official league website. Doesn't say a lot, but it is the official site as it stands now. We received a fax stating that the league suspended operations already however. The League says that the fax is a hoax? So who knows where this league stands. There was a game scheduled last night, but as of 6:30 am we have not received any results, or even know if it played.

It was on the news that they are suspending the pre-season and waiting on the regular season. I don't think this league will be around much longer though. Ticket prices are too high for this NHL calibre shinny game.

I agree at prices from $35.00 to $65.00 each, not much of a break for the fan to watch what I would call a pick up hockey game. With the score of the first game what it was, it looked more like a shirts vs skins scrimmage contest.
