I'm not there Im tuned in to our local radio station. It sounds a little rowdy in there but the announcers havent said anything about attendance. It being church night and we have a local college playing a rival tonight i didnt expect to be large. Ill try to find out.
where the local committee members have a bet going with those in Butte. So I would think that adds a little extra to the rivalry and may be bring in some more.

great second half for the miners . radio said it was a very aggressive game, with a lot of pushing a shovin .
good job miners.
still no word on crowd but it did sound loud.
Ron. It sounds it was a great game and maybe 1,500 were there.
Oklahoma appears to be at the half. But no score has been shown. The crowd seems big.

The score is 55-50 Great Falls early in the 3rd. Dakstats is up so you can keep up. Dakstats is a little behind the game. THe first half was sloppy, the second half seems better so far.

As for the Miners game, I was in attendance. The PA said 908 fans in the stands, and I doubted it until the 2nd half when they came alive! Great comeback win for the Miners. Only comment I have, and not to offend any Butte fans, but those players and their coach are a bunch of whiners. All they did after they lost the lead was whine to the referees. As a matter of fact, one Butte player (#21 Jason Miller) was called for a Technical foul because he just wouldn't stop backtalking the ref. Every Butte foul, he was walking toward the ref, making some comment about how it was a bad call, or the ref called it on the wrong guy . . . a couple of timeouts, the coach was running onto the court, yelling at the refs. . . I mean, sure, there are always calls that don't go your way, but those refs did a descent job, as they have for all our home games (same refs at every one). It was a physical game, and I feel like they were just trying to keep it under control. </endrant>
Go Miners!!

Oklahoma stats for the game....
D. Selvy 29 pts
C. Haywood 14 pts
M. Johnson 13 pts
D. Crow 9 pts
M. Phillips 9 pts
Bench 28 pts
Next Game - Next Wed. at Great Falls
Next Home game - Dec. 27th
Play in Yakama on Dec 6 and 8
Play in Pittsburgh on Dec 11 and 17
you have a good team, Cavs. If they are still unbeaten when they visit here, don't count on that streak to last. But I'm sure it will be a good game.

They are a pretty solid team. Selvey and Heywood are the main guys that get the points.
They were down 12 points at one time and fought back to win the game.
just don't be too disappointed if you don't come out on top in one of the games. We're pretty solid too and we've been playing well at home.

I just hate the fact that we don't have another home game til the end of Dec.
I figure we will loose at least one in Yakama and in Pitt.

I love it, psbf...a little friendly trash talk to amp up an upcoming game...ha ha ha! Yeah, so we pulled out a win. Talk about a night and day difference for us between halves. Coach gave one heck of a halftime speech and fired everyone up - top to bottom!
I was thinking around 1,000. Tough night to have a game, though. It was church night, and Pikeville College played Alice Lloyd College tonight - a school thats a little over an hour away from Pikeville. That's always a big game - like "bragging rights" for East Kentucky! I need to find out the score on that one (I'm a Pikeville College Alumni and former member of the bball team). I'll tell you what, though - I've not heard our fans as loud as they were tonight, and there's this one guy that sits behind our bench (Probably a season ticket holder) that is REALLY into our team. We've got a good thing going, here. It's so awesome to be appreciated and supported by the East Kentucky fans! On a side note...I spoke with someone from the Rochester Razorsharks today...said they would fly me in on Dec. 10 for vet. camp. It's really tempting, because I really want to play so bad. I haven't made up my mind yet, but I think that things are so great here that I'm probably going to stay put. I guess I can just feel opportunity knocking here...plus, one thing about me is I'm a loyal guy! We have a great team, great owners, a great town, great facility, great team chemistry...everything is great. Hopefully I'll get an opportunity at some point. Ahhh...I've rambled on enough!!! GO MINERS!!!!
the Sun Kings will give the Cavs a battle. I think the best thing Okla can do is try to keep it competitive as the Sun Kings want to dominate every opponent that comes into their building.
Zeke, I'm happy that things are going good there. It's a plus that the Razor Sharks have talked with you, but given the uncertainty of the PDL, I think you are wise to stay in Pikeville. It sounds like the Miners are growing as strong as the league is. I'm sure the over 900 fans will build back over the thousand mark soon enough.

PBSF why do you say the league is growing stronger. I hate to get into with you. But you refuse to be objective. Just because they have teams with unifoms, playing games. Most teams arent drawing a 1000 fans, do think teams can survive with that kind of attendance. Look at the Sun Kings they draw 3000 peopel for 2+ years and obviously arent making money. So how do you expect 600 fans in Pitt will get it done.
kg, and I'm confident that our turnouts will grow as the X win more games.

Just curious as to how you know the Sun Kings are not making money?? Are their financial statements public record? Did you hear rumors? How is it obvious? I'm not trying to be sarcastic just a general inquiry.
about kg, but I see articles about it in the online version of the Yakima Herald-Republic.

Froze,
You are correct, I am just assuming based on the discontent of the tribal members. If the team was profitable, I would think the tribe would consider it a valuable asset.

Crowd unfortunately looks quite small in EK tonight.
I'm watching the game too. I hope Butte wins, or the Miners will tie the Xplosion for 3rd.
period, a scuffle broke out during a rebound battle. The melee started near the free throw and ended under the Miners basket.
As the cam surveyed the crowd during a time-out, the crowd appears to be a little better(imo).

5 players have been thrown out from team following the fight, meaning both teams will finish the remaining 2.5 quarters with five players.

Just stumbled on this site and forum. I live here in Pike county and am watching the Miners webcast. I haven't been able to make it to any of the games yet, mostly due to my work schedule, but I hope to get to the Atlanta game Sunday. I really hope the community starts showing more support for the team. I figured the crowds would have been bigger than what they are. It sure would help matters if the Miners had a couple of ex-Wildacts on their roster. People here love UK basketball.

Welcome. They had a ex-Wildcat on the training camp roster Brandon Stockton(STockman?) but he broke his foot and didn't make the team as a result. I suppose they could have put on injured reserve but they didn't.

They also drafted the big Polish guy, Orbzut. He was in training camp with the Indiana Pacers, but didn't make their team. I don't know if he went back over to Europe or what. He could have given the Miners some good size in the middle, but I don't think his game would have fit in well with the fast paced style of play of the Miners.

Butte holds on for 108-102 victory. Poor clock management IMO at the end by the Miners. As stated before 10 players were ejected making an interesting game the rest of the way with players getting very tired at the end. 5-2 Quarter split.

The Miners just ran out of gas at the end. They put forth a good effort though.
I'm glad that the Xplosion are still alone in third. I hope we can win tomorrow night, though it will take a strong effort.
It looked like another game of less than 1,000.

Jason McLeish, Boo Jackson, Mike Crain, Ed Horton, Josh Pace. The Fight was pretty bad.
It began as a fight for a loose ball, someone took exception, it turned into a shoving match and escalated from their. I'm glad the benches did not empty. I understand that frustrations build, but fights are not neccesary. I'm glad those involved where thrown out.

Hey the benches did clear but just to break up the fight. It all began on a loose ball. Then one of Buttes player slung little ol Mcleish under a table then the fist started swinging. Awesome fight if I must say so myself. Just a lot of frustration. The attendence went up by 20 when all the police showed up!! LOL. Here is official list of who was ejected for ek miners
Josh Pace
Bryant Northern
Boo Jackson
Byron Allen
Reo Logan (pretty Sure)
It was a tough game very very physical even after the fight.
I will give #31 for Butte some credit He can shoot the lights out of it!! Great ballplayer.
About 600 people there by the way

Okay...one heck of a day, folks. So...let me clear up everything. The ejections for the Miners were:
Josh Pace
Bryant Northern
Boo Jackson
Byron Allen
Jason Mcleish
Both benches did clear, and true, mostly to break up the fight. It worked out great for Butte, as they kept their starting guard Aaron Cook, who pretty much set the tone and took control of the rest of the game. Our guys gave them every thing they had, though. We almost clawed back and got the win. There was a lot of pushing and shoving going on from the tip. I'm not sure if that was the game plan, but the refs let it happen. It's likely for a fight to break out when things get physical like that.
It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. It's quite possible (I'm not sure how the CBA does things) that there will be some suspensions handed out. I hope not - we have Atlanta coming to town for 2 games. I'd hate to be in a situation where we are playing without our fully loaded gun and drop those games at home.
FYI - Josh Pace, one of the guys ejected for the Miners, was named American Conference player of the week last week. He is also a former sportsmanship award winner.

Heaves - I spoke to Aaron Cook for you and passed along your message. He told me to tell you and the rest of the Frost Heaves fans that he misses you all too, and really appreciated all of the love and support in Vermont - even after he's moved on to another team. He seemed like a really genuine guy.

... and there's this one guy that sits behind our bench (Probably a season ticket holder) that is REALLY into our team.
I'm curious whom you're talking about. Are you referring to the guy in white sweatshirt in the 2nd row, or the guy in the blue jacket a few rows further back (the one who wants traveling called each trip down)?

11-30-2007, 02:17 PM
It's the guy with the raspy voice that always has words of encouragement for everyone. Loves Mcleish, Heard and Northern a lot! I rarely get a look of him, as I'm always looking at the court. he sure does give the refs heck, though. Love that guy!!!
In all actuality...I'm starting to recognize a lot of fans' voices. It's crazy...we've played 4 games, and you would think that some of these fans have been following us for years! They're REALLY into it...that guy I was talking about has known all of our players by name since game 1. And personally, it doesn't matter how many people are at the game...the people that are there are loud enough. We hear all f them...they love us, and we are extremely appreciative!
