I've been looking into playing this summer after the CBA season, but it's tough navigating through the IBL website to find out where some of these teams play. I'd like to get somewhere close to FL, so I can be home more until the CBA season next year. Anyone have any suggestions?

The IBL is mostly a West Coast/midwest league, with recent expansion into the southwest. The only southeast league is the WBA, which has gone down the drain recently.

It looks like the closest returning team for next season is going to be in northern Indiana. Unfortunately, IBL teams pay so little that you'd probably have a hard time covering the cost of gas money or a bus ticket to get there and back.

There is no salary cap in the IBL. There are only guidelines. A team can pay as much as they want (if they want to attract better talent) or they can pay as little as they want (if they don't have deep pockets).
There will be a team in Northwest Indiana too (Gary Steelheads). Nowhere close to Florida, but another team in the Northern part of Indiana.

I would suspect the Midwest teams pay their players considerably more than the West coast teams. When a team like Elkhart does everything right, the surrounding teams have to up the ante just to stay competitive. Adding a team like Gary, with a history of playing in a more legitmate league, will only improve things in the region.
Out west, a couple players I have spoken to with IBL experience said the prevailing wage is about $50 a game. In fact, Seattle got away with paying their players nothing as they operated as a non-profit.

Where in the CBA are you playing? Battle Creek is a fine orginization. They have a coach that coached in the CBA and they have a coach that is working with the NBDL team in Fort Wayne. They pay very well. They are the only team so far that I have seen that is getting ready for the season now. I understand thay also have great housing. I think there web site is www.bcknights.com.

That is a thought - I am from Michigan (suburb of Detroit). I'm with the East Kentucky Miners right now, but now playing at this point.

I sent the assistant coach an e-mail about you. He was in the CBA so you may know him. If you get the chance try and e-mail him.
