Okaaay...

Three expansion teams opened up their eras tonight...

The Fort Wayne Mad Ants had a rather rocky opener, losing to Tulsa 88-80 at the War Memorial.

The Rio Grande Valley Vipers proved their supremacy in the Lone Star State, knocking off the Austin Toros 104-97 (So, the CBA Silverados are 0-3, and the D-League Vipers are 1-0...If the seasons keep going this way, the Silverados could be one-and-done)

The Iowa Energy got a HUUUUGE kickstart to their era, upsetting the defending champion Dakota Wizards 101-99 in Bismarck.

Over in Broomfield, the Colorado 14ers were able to pull away from Anaheim, winning 120-113.

And finally, the Albuquerque Thunderbirds eked out the W at the Tingley Coliseum against Idaho with a 94-92 triumph.

Just to keep you in the know...

The Wizards game was a lot of fun. Great to see the team back in town. The banner celebration was pretty sweet. And the game wasn't all bad. The final score was really the only negative part of the night. Iowa has a pretty good team. The addition of JamesOn Curry from the NBA appeared to help them out a lot.

hiya. Yes the Mad Ants lost . They play good but lose on the rebounding and look to be a full house even if they were using a local college basketball team set tht use the same building. It look lke the 5000 or 7000 set up.

Welcome to the board Mr. Hurley feel free to invite some people from the Fort Wayne area.... I am glad to see that they had a well attended game I am also glad that they used a 5-7,000 seat setup it looks better when you have 4,500 in a set up like that compared to a 11,000 seat setup.... I hope the MadAnts do well and become a long term cornerstone of the Dleague....

thanks for the welcome. It was close to tht 7500 crowd last nite and it was the IPFW set up they use. I bet they get the close to 2000 for the season but i am guessing.Never did hear how season tickets went. I have season tickets for the indoor football team and keep hear small numbers for the Ant. I know they went out in public a couple times selling them.

Here's a wide shot of Dodge Arena from opening night:

Looks like the attendance figure of 5061 was pretty accurate.
