And just when you thought you'd seen it all ...
At least they didn't end up going with National Intense Football League.

Yes, reading the article this morning surely made me wonder????????? Its funny when a league gets into the paper but has no website, but announces 16 arena leases, no ownerships, and no team names. Then the clencher is calling it the American National Indoor Football League. Why do these so-called leagues continue to announce things without doing due diligence or proper business panning. Did anyone take business 101?

Youn know it jsut throws me that they would call it the ANIFL.. I read a couple things about Watts and sounds pretty interesting to say the least. I did notice the NIFL website has been down for about a week. Could they have suckered someone else?

ANIFL is just one letter away from being ANIL.

It was a very poor ownership group in Alexandria, Louisiana...and that was way back in 2002. It's gotten worse since then. So I don't think anything's magically changed there.

According to the article, the new "league" has leases in Tampa, Orlando, Daytona, West Palm Beach, Jacksonville, Pensacola, Columbus, Ga., Macon, Ga., Baton Rouge, La., Myrtle Beach, S.C., Memphis, Tenn., and Mobile, Ala. Doesn't say where, though, and in some cases they have to be secondary facilities. Daytona and Columbus already have teams.

Googling "Warren Watts" reveals that he is the owner of a semi-pro Florida team in the Southern States Football League. He claims to be partial owner of Premier Sports Management, but a look over the company's website (http://premiersport.com/staff.html) does not show him among the staff. PSM appears to be a company that represents athletes (i.e. agents), not sports investors, per se. There is another company by the same name in Kansas (http://www.premiersportsonline.com/), but he is not listed when you call their number and go through the voicemail directory.
Outside of his semi-pro team website (http://www.freeteams.net/Nightwolves/), I cannot find any other mention of his Premier Sports Management. He uses a free website for his team, is using the logo of the Berlin Thunder, presumably without permission, and uses a free yahoo.com address for his email. Draw your own conclusions.

You would THINK they woulnd't want to give the NIFL a reason to sue with the proposed name.
You would THINK since they listed "Southern States Football League" which apparently is another semipro league I never heard of, they'd at least think of going with "Southern Indoor Football League" or something. Even if sifl.com is taken, even ssifl.com is taken (for "Southern States Indoor Football League"), they could go with ssifa.com which IS available ("Southern States Indoor Football Association"). Or something different.
Couldn't find "American National Indoor Football Leauge" nor "ANIFL" registered as a Florida corporation.

American National Indoor Football League.
Impressive.
Just think if they could somehow shoehorn
the words Continental and United into the title.
They'd really have something then.

and 'Association' and 'Intense.' Gotta have those.
And, if you're an APFL fan, 'Professional'
And, if you're an APFL fan, 'Professional'
It is........they have different levels of pay depending on how far along the team is in their development. At least they're honest about that.
Other leagues..............not always.

Good sight Fred, if you had read the whole post. All the commentary was was an issue with the "league's" name, not an indictment on the teams that don't pay anyone in the APFL.

Most of the towns mentioned for this so-called league have venues that have been burned so many times by indoor football, I can't imagine them letting someone in their building without the entire rent paid up front in cash.
Looks like another brewer of that strange kool aid that's been going around in minor league sports.

Add another to the already have a team list: Louisville, Ky
http://www.freeteams.net/Nightwolves/
"Nightwolves Changes Name
Premier Sports Management and the Florida Nightwolves has come to agreement with a name change for the 3 year organization out of Tampa,FL. Owner Warren Watts and Head Coach Louis Briggins made the name change Saturday Oct. 27, 2007 to go with new team name Florida Thunder and to remove Florida Nightwolves. The Nightwolves will be back in action in the Tampa area in 2009 as members of the American National Indoor Football League which is set to start play in March 2009. The ANIFL will have teams in (Tampa,Orlando,Daytona,West Palm, Miami, Pensacola, Columbus, Ga, Macon , Ga ,Memphis, Baton Rouge, La,New Orlens, La,Louisville, Ky and Mrytle Beach ,Sc). The Nightwolves will play all their games at the Tampa Expo Hall at the Florida State Fair Grounds. ANIFL league owners Bay Area Sports Group will be Hosting a Florida Tryout for its 6 Florida teams at these sites (USF-Tampa Nov,17 @ 10am, Tinker Field-Orlando Dec,1,2007) there will be a $40 tryout Fee for all players at all ANIFL tryouts. Any players looking to take their talent to the next level the ANIFL will be the place to do it, contact Premier Sports Management at 813-900-1207 or call Office M-F 9am-5pm at 813-446-2949."
In 2009, the Fire will still be in Freedom hall but there is Broadbent Arena, problem with that is they're both located on the Ky Expo Center Ground. While they're not right next to each other and they have their own lots, I wouldn't have two teams in the same expo park. Also the floor to steel measurement for Broadbent is 42 ft.

Are the ANIFL and IIFA just indoor versions of the myriad of semi-pro/recreational leagues tracked by www.semiprofootball.org?

Could Jim Terry have something to do with this. Being a league out of FLA. It is always a possibilty.

They have a lease in Orlando? Where? Surely not Amway Arena where the AFL Predators play. UCF doesn't have a facility for it. I don't think RDV Sportsplex has room for it. Surely they couldn't mean the Silver Spurs Arena, where the Kissimmee Kreatures/Osceola Outlaws/Osceola Football/Osceola Ghostriders couldn't draw a meeting, let alone a crowd?
