Just wondering if anyone knows the differences in cost for franchises for the various arena leagues?

Good question. I just read an article about NFL DT Sam Adams paying $85,000 for the new expansion NIFL Everett Hawks. Also read an article about the new UIF charging $10,000 for each franchise. Anyone know what other leagues cost? Also like to know what each league pays their players and coaches, also the yearly operating cost for these teams. Appreciate any info. Thanks.

For the AFL, franchise fees are around $15 million for a new team...you probably can't get an old team for less than $10 million, unless you're an NFL owner. That dosn's include all the "other stuff" (cost of arena rental, travel, promotion, front office, TV, Radio, salesmen to get sponsors, worker's comp, etc, etc, etc). Salaries for af2 range from $30k to $150k, there's a salary cap (See the AFLPA.com site).

af2 franchises are $500k for a new team...you also have to pay $100k or so for a new field, and 60k for the "game system" (dasher boards, nets, etc). Figure startup costs after "other expenses" would combine to be about $1.5 - 2.0 million or so.

af2 salaries are set, so your head coach makes around $40-60k, depending on experience...assistants get only a few thousand. Players get 200 per game, plus 50 dollars win bonus...and I think af2 teams can now house 2 players.

These figures are off the top of my head, but they should be in the ballpark for afl/af2

sorry, I meant to say salaries for AFL start at $30k and range up to 150k or more.

And the af2 costs would be expansion fee/new field/game system/other stuff to come to the 1.5 million or more mark.

Good stuff johnf76, thanks.

Wow. Talk about inflation! I just read that in 1995 you could have bought an AFL franchise for $285,000. Damn why do I always miss out on the good opportunities?

For AFL and af2 teams, there is a performance bond requirement as well. You have to put up money to guarantee that your team will finish the season (that's what kept the Wichita af2 franchise going after the owner went bankrupt).
They also have player insurance requirements (so if a player suffers a serious injury, the player isn't left in the lurch financially for medical bills).
The NIFL has no performance bond requirement that I know of. No offense to anybody, but that league has a history of letting teams fold in midseason. I don't know about their insurance requirements.
I haven't heard what the UIF requires. From what I've read and seen, they seem to require more money to operate a team in their league than the NIFL but less than the af2.

can we get back to the smaller leagues, I know the whole spiel about how much all the other hidden costs are...

but what about the initial fees to actually own a franchise for the different leagues?

You need to account for the hidden costs. Politely "ignoring" them does a disservice to yourself and your franchise.

yes I know i have to keep account for them, as I stated I already know the costs and such for that material

what I want to know is the actual costs to get a team in these leagues

Can't the leagues themselves tell you that? Most don't make that information public and some offer deals.
