What will the Vancouver I.B.L. team be named?....Well I'm pondering if there is a Vancouver,Washington(Volcanoes) team in the league at the time they start. They may not want to use the "Vancouver" part.Too confusing when you are trying to advertise/promote?Maybe a B.C. or British Columbia team name.....or how about Fraser Valley,as the team will be based out of Langley I believe.
What does anything think?

I would agree that the two Vancouvers could be confusing. Marketing as B.C. might be the right way to go.

Although it has nothing to do with the IBL, I believe the difference between the CFL's Saskatchewan Roughriders and the defunct Ottawa Rough Riders was the "Roughriders" had a cowboy-related nickname, while the "Rough Rider" nickname was a logging term.

I don't think they will go with Fraser Valley. Maybe BC Bud?
I'm thinking they will use the Vancouver moniker. My sister lives in Vancouver and minor leagues have been hit and miss. It all depends on where they play. If they try and do this somewhere ABA style like an elementary school or a guys backyard, expect them to fold almost immediately. If they are legit and go to the known rink and market themselves well they will be ok.
The bad taste left behind by the NBA's shambolic handling of the Grizzlies hasn't completely left, but people have moved on.

If known arena=GM Place or Pacific Coliseum, we can count their likely lifespan in days.
Isn't there some sort of "Agridome" on the PNE grounds? How much does it seat?
Queens Park in New Westminster? Any one of the other arenas hosting some hockey in the winter and Western Lacrosse Association in the summer?

The Agridome has been set aside for the CBA's Vancouver Dragons...Still think they might want to try one of the local college campuses

We'll see about "set aside." Seen Tuckman's portfolio lately? The Dragons are a "never were" in my book.
However, I forget that this is the IBL. I'd normally scream about "beer sales," but few other teams in the league play in professional facilities.

There are a lot of facilities. The PNE agridome was around but its old, I don't know if its still standing.
You can run the gauntlet from the Kerrisdale arena to the GM Place. I doubt they would try in GM Place. If they go the university route avoid Simon Fraser University like the plague, its on top of a mountain and getting up it in winter is a royal pain in the neck.

Well according to media releases the team will play out of the new Langley Events Centre expected to open late fall of this year. Not completely sure of the L.E.C. layout but I am assuming that the team would play in a larger gymnasium there(also to be used by BCCAA/CIS team?)rather than the expected 4500-5000 arena that is part of the project. The people heading the team project seem solid,I plan on attending games.

In regards to any possible location of the team at the P.N.E.One would have to factor in legal agreements with Vanoc as there non exclusive/exclusive usage time periods in the run up to the Vancouver 2010 Olympics. This would seriously restrict a teams ability to do business.

The team is presently running a "name the team" contest.Any opinions on if it should be Vancouver,Fraser Valley,Langley or B.C.?What do you all think?
I'd suggest calling them the Vancouver Mounties like the Grizzlies were supposed to be named when they were an expansion team.

In regards to "Mounties" I think they would probably run into the same issue as the Grizzlies did. That being that the RCMP would probably claim some legal copyright infringement etc.As I think they have everything that looks anything like a "mountie" copyrighted...ha ha.

None of those choices really inspire a whole lot of enthusiasm.
Vancovuer Ravens is out because that was the name of the lacrosse team. If I HAD to choose one from that list, I'd probably pick Vancouver Reign. I've kinda liked that name ever since Seattle's ABL team was called that about 10 years ago.

Good point on the Ravens name etc. Also "Cascades" is the name of the UCFV teams which may even be playing against college teams in the same centre.
There was a professional rugby team called Wave, not sure if they are still in the same league they played in.
I like the Reign name also.Ties in well to the region?I believe they will decide April 1 on what name to they have chosen.

It appears "Vancouver Ravens" seriously leading the voting for the team name.Which leaves one pondering if they would be able to use that?Especially when it appears the former lacrosse team still retains a website, complete with a "Vancouver Ravens" team name and logo.Anybody got any insight or suggestions?

The Ravens were conditionally admitted to the NLL for this season. However, they had to sell a certain amount of season tickets to be activated. Sadly, they came up short by the NLL imposed deadline. It is more than likely a sure thing they will be in the league next season. Plus, since they own the rights to the name and the logo, I doubt the IBL team will be called the Ravens unless it is owned by the same group. Even then I can't see the Vancouver/Langley/GVRD media warming to the idea of two Vancouver Ravens teams.

It seems like "Vancouver Titans" has won the name the team voting contest.However....did anybody notice that "Vancouver Ravens" had a signifigant lead until a very short period time before the end of the contest?Only to see Titans come from a ways back.Or do I need to finally break down and get those bifocals
Anybody got any comments,opinions etc?

Sounds like a good idea.It was a bit miss-leading when the name the team contest came out.I was advised that all geographic names were possible(Langley,Vancouver,Fraser Valley,B.C. etc)
However, when they chose the 10 finalists, all were "Vancouver".I think some suggestion were wasted in the process.Would of been nice to know ahead of time it was going to be "Vancouver" etc.
Hope it doesnt cause confusion with the two Vancouvers

I don't know what the average ticket price is, but the ticket prices in Gary are as follows:
$5 Upper level
$12 Lower level
$25 Courtside
$60 Nicholson
