Good luck Cleveland and i am being sincere, with Kosar being involved i believe ferraro's(smuck) ego will be somewhat subdued and you will have a shot at a competative team. We put up with across the board changes and uncertanties everyyear that handycapped any chance of being competative, his antics with the players, coaches and contract wrangling put a black fog on the team here. Who wants to play for an owner who isnt going to pay.
We will get another team although not in time for the upcoming season unfortunately. Good riddence ferraro(smuck).
Needed! Las Vegas afl team qualifacations needed are integrity, pride, loyalty and competative edge.

Vegas is an interesting market. If done right and creatively, it could work well. It will take the right ownership group, but thats the case everywhere these days. Hopefully some form of minor league football will be there in 2009.

It will be very difficult to make the Arena Football League work in Las Vegas, where there is no shortage of entertainment options. Apparently the AFL would like to put a team in the new arena when it is built, but an arena that seats nearly 20,000 is much too large for the Arena Football League.

Thanks for the positives, just in case someone with the means reads this, i believe vegas was in the top three of marketing, we are building three more arenas with a major one slated for downtown, so i'm sure some interprising sports fan in all likelihood could come in and make a deal with one of the arenas that would be extremely favorable. As for the gladiators not being succesfull a smart business man would have to weigh into the reasoning behind that, i believe you'll find them to be the same ones that caused ferraro to fail in new jersey with the team. It's not our city but the product presented. hopefully in 2009 till then we still have the arenabowl here next year so we have that.

I thought Vegas wasn't going to have the Arena Bowl this year.

What's the status on ANY of the arenas being built?

I can see casinos doing their worst to undermine private consortium efforts, and we KNOW no public funding is forthcoming.

New downtown arena is i believe late 2009, mandalay bay, wynn, thomas and mack, orleans, mgm, trumps(this list is but a few existing and upcoming spots)just finishing his casino not sure about arena on that one, citi center i think is going to have a little something, point being ample space right now the thomas and mack is a great facility its were we have the arena bowl and they played before switching to the orleans last season. will try to track down review journal article on funding ferraro turned down. your right on any casino wanting to give up monies on anything but i believe someone would be willing to work something mutually beneficial out. nobody gives anything away, but the casinos are into bodies in the door, gate money and concessions isnt there primary concern they want the rest of what you carry in your wallet. as for the arena bowl i was told by Sam Jankovich (GM) bowl was to return to vegas for at least one more year (they said a lot of things though). although new orleans facility is beautifull and i had a great time, game itself not so much a bit lopsided.
Got some money and credability call Oscar Goodman our fearless mayer, he attended games and could give the cities view on it.

The Las Vegas proposal isn't even on AEG's website yet... and they're putting up a few things that are in the planning stages.

Always remember that the human tendency to overpromise and underdeliver is not the exclusive purview of government bureaucracies.
