The SPHL is looking to deliver affordable, and exciting hockey action this year. With a steady financial model, and for once solid leadership at the league level this year should be a success.

Yes, I agree Tom Coolen really seams to have all his cards in order, and seems to be doing one hell of a job with the league. I really belive that he was a very wise choice by the league.

Yes, and they put their league offices in Columbus which is another smart move. They won't have far to go to visit the Championship Trophy!!!!!!

Just jokin' around. Looking forward to a great season. How about those games on Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years Eve & New Years Day! Wow, talk about maximizing the holidays.

I have to completely disagree. Every new league claims to have the right "economic model." However, this league and their teams (except for maybe Knoxville) can't even update their website regularly. ashevilleaces.com is still "under construction." No excuses.

They got rid of Cherney, but are stuck with Waronker, who was kicked out of Pelham and Orlando, folded franchises in Lakeland and Miami, got a horrid lease in Asheville (DON'T get me started on Asheville, trust me, they should never have put a team there), has lawsuits from ex-employees in Jacksonville, and changed the league name 3 times in 3 months.

Why act like releasing a schedule with just 60 days before a season starts is good news?

And really, WHERE is the REAL marketing and why haven't we seen it up to now?

This is just for starters.

I feel for some of you fans (at least those not in Asheville). These arena managers are going to get even tougher on any new league if this one folds.

BTW, I heard a rumor about the league offices maybe moving to Asheville from Columbus. Again, just a rumor but I'll try to check it out.

Don't know why the hell they want to move the office this close to the season starting.

Well, as you know, it's official: Asheville is on the SPHL 2004-maybe 2005 League Office Tour.

I saw that about the league offices. The reason stated was they couldn't secure office space in Columbus in time. How pathetic for those of us in Columbus. It seems the entire Columbus organization is a confused entity. Wouldn't be surprised if they are the doormat of the league this year and disband next season. There just doesn't seem to be as much urgency in anything around here. There isn't as much activity as with the other teams by what I've been reading. Oh well, good for Asheville and good for the league.
