Just finished listening to the internet broadcast of the Anderson Champions @ Detroit Panthers. Panthers won 170-79. (pause for effect) Yes 170-79. I would say it's going to be a long year in Anderson, but this won't last long. If this is the quality team the Champions expect the people of Anderson to pay money to see I'm afraid they are in for a major disapointment. This disaster should fold any day now, but WTH, this is the ABA. I'm sure if they don't finish this season we can count on their return for 2008-09.

Detroit seems to destory all these bogus teams before the fold.

Hey, the ABA chased the CBA's Alley Cats out by mucking up the waters with the Anderson Champions (confusion in the marketplace, pretending to be the same Alley Cats team that played in the 2006 Great Eight finals, etc.). Now that the Champions are the only game in town, and if you're going to lose by 91 points in any league, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Here's to the Champions dying off forever, and the Alley Cats returning to the Wigwam and showing the fans in Anderson a real champion team. But of course, as long as Joe Newman draws a breath in his nicotine-infested lungs, the Champions will stay in business, even if he has to do some creative marketing to keep the team afloat.

I think it's a riot ...

That the worst run organization in the ABA, the Anderson Champions ...

Is in the same state as the ABA CEO.

Coincidence??? I think not!

What a disgrace to the Great Basketball State of Indiana.

The ABA executive office should be ashamed of themselves ...

I wonder what kind of SPIN they will come up with on this game?

That is really pathetic. I don't say much on the boards lately, but....that is just pathetic. I mean, as a player, what goes through your head during a game like that? You just lost by 90 points...like...the Panthers put up 2 games worth of points in 48 minutes!!!!

It thought the same thing about Reno. Although there is a difference.

Reno: Was only owned & ran by family.
Anderson: Would be kept afloat out of spite.

I just hope press listings don't list this game as
"Closer than the score reflected..."?

Probably: "I hope I'm going to get paid for this...."

Guess he figured he couldn't make things any worse. I'll bet they were still wearing those cheap generic uniforms from last year too.

maybe this year they decided to add words to the same cheap uniforms they had last year.

With the perilous financial state of some of these franchises' I'm actually surprised this hasn't happened more often. Guy is broke so he dresses' himself, his brother, son and a couple of his sons' buddies. Only problem is that when people pay to see pro basketball, they aren't paying to see the owner, his brother, son and a couple of his sons' buddies play horse. They want real players.

I can see that poor guy who took out a loan from his 401k to pay the 10k franchise fee needing to do this.
(Term poor guy used figuratively and literally)
