Word was just out that A2 WOULD be back for the 09 season in the big red state, You get to figure where? Did Mr Crow step doen due to he knew the same thing and is trying to get on the band wagon. Kinda looks like what happened in Houston with the Copperheads. Bring ANOTHER team on board from another league right into your own house. Welcome back, this time being done right with the right owner,

I know who the coach is going to be. I heard that it is actually about 30 minutes from Omaha, but considered Iowa.

Council Bluffs?
So SMG kicking out the Iowa Blackhawks eventually bore fruit for the af2?
Lincoln?
Granted, what you are posting smacks very much of malicious rumor. So I'd like some backing to that statement.

It appears to be Council Bluffs and the coach will be someone who has coached in Nebraska for many years and has experience in the af2. This comes from the horses mouth, of course an official press release will not be coming for awhile.

As Council Bluffs is in Iowa, could somebody edit the thread to have a more appropriate title, and then move it to the af2 forum?

Um, yeah. Let's see how that works out for them. Corpus Christi II? Oh yeah, as others have pointed out Council Bluffs is in Iowa.

Maybe he got it confused because Omaha and Council Bluffs are neighbors (hopefully), but this should have been in the af2 thread.
Yes, to an outsider, Omaha and Council Bluffs are geographically the same city.
The af2 made a move to bump the Blackhawks out of the MAC this last year. Fortunately for indoor football fans, they failed. It was rumored that they were also trying to bump the Beef out of Civic.
With Omaha having different, probably better, ownership this year, I'm hoping that people see quality put out by both the Blackhawks organization of the APFL and the Beef stepping things up for their UIF team.
The Beef have been somewhat neglected over the last few years and the new ownership and management could be a real breath of fresh air. While I follow the Blackhawks, I may have to check out the effort in Omaha during an off week.
Jake Hiffernan is definitely one of indoor football's best owners and has slowly been bringing local recognition to the Blackhawks. Definitely a fun place to watch indoor football.
While I like Jose, I do hope the af2 venture fails and that the indoor teams have success.

Always good to see someone with good information. Nice post and very accurate, but I do think Jake and the Blackhawks are out after this year. I heard this is already a done deal. I do know that they also looked at the Civic Center but settled on Council Bluffs and it is thought to be a good fit for the Barnstormers.

It also helps that SMG runs the Council Bluffs arena, and not the Omaha one.

I am sure that played a huge part of the decision.

Now that's beautiful .
Now that's beautiful .
Yeah, I may have worded that poorly.
I hope that the two indoor teams have a great deal of success so that the af2 venture doesn't appeal to either of the facilities may be a better way of putting it.
I know how much hard, quality work that Jake puts into his venture with the Blackhawks, and with new ownership breathing fresh air into the Beef, there's much room for optimism for both teams.
Hopefully the fans get out and check out the great things going on in the MAC and at Civic. I know I'll be at the MAC as long as the Blackhawks are playing indoor football.
