Corning started off the game 18 to 0. I heard some shut out chants from the fans behind the bench.

Final Score was 135-111

We had a celeb 13th man from the tv station who even got to see decent Playing Time. We layed off of them a little towards the end, I think we will score a lot on everyone. Look for us to put up 150 pts or more on various occasions.

Hello, That sounds like it was a exciting game. Who was high scorer? Did the game sellout? Can't wait to see you play the Raging Bullz. Hey, whatever happened to Demontric Doddles ? He is definitly on the All Name Team. Glad to hear that you guys won.

*Steve Vessey 0pts, 1 rebound * Celebrity 13th man from WETM TV

You couldnt dream up a team stat line like that , 4 players over 20 points , point guard 18pts , 13 assists, 6 rebounds. We didnt even play full go for 4 quarters, we have a SQUAD.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm impressed!

Houston is not that great and also they are withered and tired.

Lets see what happens with this crappy league. Teams fall out too damn fast around here.

If Corning is that "great" they should be in a real league the CBA

What I'm impressed about is the fact that someone actually has stats from the game!

450 was the total attendence, I thought it was closer to 600 because they were so loud so if breakers fan was there I could see where he would guess that number. The fans came with signs , it was just a fun crazy atmosphere. Some pictures of the game are up on the team site.

You seem to have garnered some positive press. I hope your attendance reflects this next game. Good luck.

James,

Nice work on the game and the attendance. When we are speaking about minor leagues such as the ABA, a home game in the mid-100's with loud fans (and holding signs, no less), that must be viewed as a good start and the way toget things off on the right foot.

We have our home opener in 4 hours, so I am anticipating a good crowd, as well. One thing that we have going against us is that the Giants-Cowboys game is at 4:15, and although it will be nearly over when we tip off, that may be something that will keep some folks away. With the Jets playing so lousy this season, the Giants are the talk of the town and I know that many homes and sports brs will be packed this afternoon.

I will swallow my pride and accept these losses in New York. I thank you guys for your support and prayers at this time for my wife. She will have 6 more test done tomorrow and I am still asking for your prayers.

Nevertheless, my team fought hard and showed that no matter what, we will fight and continue to fight. I blame only one person and that is NWA. They wouldnt allow us to exchange the tickets for other injured players and they have yet to refund us the amount as well. You will see soon the complete Houston Taker team and yes we will attend the Great 8 this year. Im glad this happened early and we will reflect back on this day. Thanks for being a great host James.

Larry,

I think when you guys get some more bodys you will be alright. The announcer gave Orlando Woolridge a nice shout out before the game and the fans went crazy for him and he waved to them and was nice to them all game long.

If I was you Larry I would generate ticket sales revenue by starting a huge campaign to promote the fact that he is your head coach. The people love him.

James,

All I needed was for Northwest to cooperate with us and it would have been a different song. But they didnt and thats what the results were. Out of all of that at one point of the game it was tied up but not enough bodies. Its a good moral victory for us considering what we went through but we know that moral victories dont win championships. What you should have done was schedule to come down since Jacksonville left but thats just my opinion. We will see you again this year and I promise it will be different and I think you know it.

The Vast Majority of Airlines will not let you change the name of the tickets. Many of them began that practice after 911.

There are a few that let you do it. For example Jet Blue only if you bought your tickets with an AMEX Green or Platinum Card. Black does too.

(Got my Black on Saturday oh lord i have to hide it from the wife)

I was curious about the "over 300" (per the newspapers...I presume this is based on a rough count of bodies in the stands by the press) that attended Corning's home opener, relative to the city's popluation as noted by a little Google research. The city has a population of 11k (much less than I had realized...I couldn't find any "metro area" stats.) 300 is not a terrible number given this population. It is similar in size to Barre, Vt. that was able to put 1500+ in per night. But, I still believe the average will have to be 1000+ for Corning to have any long term viability, but a precedent has been set. Barre does have the luxury of being relatively close to a 200K+ metro area of Burlington Vt (40k in the city.) Corning will have a tough road ahead, not so much because of what they are doing in Corning, but because of league stability and the population base from which to draw. It is simple math.
