Boston wins 122-119 in double ot

I could be wrong on the score but the margin is right. They reset the scoreboard to 0-0 for the 2nd ot, which Boston won 10-7 on a 3d tip in.

Wild game.

Congrats to the Blizzard being 2-0, however, the attendence is poor, tough to compete in that city, but not even 200 is really bad imo

Thanks again for the updates JamesABA

I was at the Corning game - had to leave with about 5 min left and Corning up 111-81. The Takers only have seven guys wearing shirts that simply said "Genesis" (not Houston or Takers).

Some observations:
1) Good crowd, probably about 600 or so - and it was into the game. I bet many will return.
2) Bulldogs have sharp shooting shirts and uniforms. Houston had mismatched shooting shirts and "Genesis" uniforms.
3) The play was a bit ragged but overall entertaining. The Bulldogs do have an impressive team. Houston was outplayed in every facet and looked tired. Matt Miller from Houston has an ugly shot but it sure worked for him.
4) Good concession variety at cheap prices. Also good looking Bulldogs t-shirts for #15 - and I would say at least 50 people were wearing them.
5) The presentation of the game left alot to be desired. Throughout the game, the PA announcer, who was a teenager, never referred to the players by name. For example, "A three pointer by number 5!" "Rebound by number 24!" "Slamma jamma by number 25!"
6) I bought a $2 program which had an attractive cover but was otherwise a word document. Had an insert with rosters, recent ABA scores, and ABA standings.
7) No Pony shoes on either team that I could see.
8) No DJ or decent music - in fact they played the Beatles at halftime.
9) The officiating was actually pretty good.
10) Overall highlight was watching Orlando Woolridge interact with people - he is a class act.
11) The Corning CC venue is adequate, but kind of dark. It feels and looks like a typical high school gym.

Overall I had a good time - but then again, I would have a good time at any basketball game. All in all, a better start than I expected for Corning.

Good review! I was expecting maybe a bit more people, but thats a decent crowd, if he keeps promoting and doing things right and his team does well, people will keep coming back along with new people who want to see what the Bulldogs are about

For a recap for their game against Ciero in Ciero with 3 pics, in one i counted how many people and it appears to not even be 15, pathetic!!

No warm up jerseys, and the Throwbacks look like "Throwaway" jerseys! Confusing looking court with all the lines...what a joke Ciero appears to be, and the part I don't understand is that the PBL Chicago Aztecas have the same people that run Ciero running the Aztecas according to the info page on the PBL Chicago website, now if Ciero sucks it up and folds after a few weeks, what is the PBL going to think?

Wow, what a joke. Let’s hope this is not going to be the same story for his PBL franchise. Wouldn't surprise me though, the Aztecs don't even have a website yet. Two teams in two competing leagues, isn't that a conflict of interest?

TBAYZ - well spotted.

I love the website, the mission statement says "chicago throwbacks, where players have a 2nd chance"

God what a BS league this is.

So the only score not turned into either OSC or the ABA site is San Diego vs. San Francisco for Nov. 10th games

-Paul, I hope the "Throwaways" post pics of their home opener, maybe they can get 30 people compared to Ciero's 15 haha

I''ve been to the Cicero stadium and god this place is only really good for rollerderby and boxing. The place is cold and dank. Oh well. Its the ABA. And Joe still smokes dank

Considering how far the Sound have come since our first home game on 11/25/05, I have to say that Corning sounds as if they did a very good job in many areas. I know from our peronal experiences that first season that the little things no one thinks about are important, and we have made improvements every home game since then.

Just for checklist purposes, I'll go through this with few comments. I m by no means an expert, but because I have been with our team since then, I may be of some assistance:

1- Attendance approximated at 600 (or less, from some of the other threads)- For a first game, very good. We must remember that this is the ABA, and barring a few places, most teams get 100-200 in the building.

2- Full uniforms and shooters- Right on the money by Cornng, not so good by Houston. At the strt of the season, some uniforms may still be on order, so I will not get too crazy on this one. The Houston team should have their laundry from last season, though.

3- Entertaining but inconsistent play- Once again, it is the beginning of the season, and Houston has been on the road, as well.

4- Concessions and souvenirs- Good job. At some venues, concessions are very limited and sometimes not even allowed. I would be curious to know if the Bulldogs had other items for sale.

5- PA Announcer- This is n important part of your game day staff. If you are going to use a teenager, he should be extremely energetic and knowledgable. If he or she does not know the names of the players, they should not make the statements after the baskets. To have someone speaking too much during the game over the PA does not help, either. I now some teams almost do a play-by-play during the game (Maryland did so), but I , for one, feel that it is totally unnecessary. When you go to an NBA game, they do not do this. There is no reason for it at any level.

6- Programs- Many teams give out programs that re exremely basic and made in the office. With the Sound, we are actually in the process of designing an entire Yearbook/Media Guide which will appear better thn some NBA teams' Media Guides. A bold statement, maybe. But when it is out there, I would love to get some feedback.

7- Footwear- Still early. Does PONY get their attire out there on time? There may be different places to point the finger of blame on this one. Personally, I am not aware of what the story is.

8- DJ- There should be music being played during the game, similar to what NBA teams do. On Long Island, we have improved our sound system from year 1 to 2. We hve 2 really good PA announcers with the right type of bellowing voices. When 1 is unavailable, the other picks up right where the first left off. It is important to do this right, and not too loud, too. During breaks and halftime, we have the dance team, so it is hard to make a comparison there. But I do like the Beatles, and I'm pleasantly surprised that such a young owner ike James has good taste in music. Very uncommon in the new generaton. (I'm not an old fart, but far past my 20's)

9- Officiating- For the most part, the officiating is fair. In all sports at all levels, there are arguments. The ABA refs are no different. They do a good job and call it down the middle.

10- Having an ex-NBA guy like 'O' is always a good thing.

11- Venue- How many ABA teams play at something other than a college or high school gym? The ones that have a better venue are rare and extremely lucky. As long as you can keep the product positive, hopefully better venues come around and the teams(s) can make a move to play there.
