All right, there are four games on the schedule today:

Nov. 4, 2007 Strong Island Sound at Westchester Phantoms
Nov. 4, 2007 West Texas Whirlwinds at Houston Takers
Nov. 4, 2007 Rochester Fire at St. Louis Stunners
Nov. 4, 2007 Maywood Buzz at Sacramento Heatwave

So far the league has scores for three of the five games officially listed; that's a 60% game played rate. Down from the 63% from last season. Mostly this is caused by the missing Sacramento-LA Push games. Were these contests played or not???

In his post on the Stunners-Cicero game last night, "gostlouis" indicated that the Rochester-St. Louis game tonight is cancelled -- the Stunners PA announcer said the next home game was against Atlanta on 11/18.

a1sports said they played to a crowd of about 30 people...

Amazing, entering the 3rd day of the season, already a game is cancelled

It may be save to say that all Rochester games are going to be canceled this year. That team is no longer on the Stunners schedule at all anymore. It's a good indication that they may not play any games this year.

Uh, online it says Roch is coming there for 2 games (one in Dec and Jan)

BUT, they wont even be alive by then, so yes I agree, it will be safe to say they're done

dont plan on it :)

This year is going to be a huge huge mess! Look already 3 days in, and a game cancelled, how nice haha

-Thanks for the pics too, they would just be better if there was more people in the stands :(

We have all the results posted on OSC except the Sacramento game... again. I know that Maywood wasn't playing there today, but I don't know if the game was postponed or if another opponent filled in. Houston took down West Texas 119-91.

...Do teams send scores to O.S.C. who in turn verify them and post them?
Or can they post them directly to the web sight?

Sacramento isn't the type of team that scrambles to find new opponents for their games. Not when you can count their fan base with your fingers, as evidenced by this picture:

And no, they weren't all sitting on the other side:

http://www.bellinghamslam.com/multimedia/sacramento2.jpg

That's seven fans in the stands. Seven. With about 90 seconds until the game starts.

I suspect you'll see a lot of cancelled games on the west coast this season. No team in the west draws enough fans to warrant the extra cost of finding a team to fill in and maintaining 18 home games.

well thats 2 games already cancelled, 3 days into the season, how sad

Maywood didn't have this game on their schedule but Sac did, what a mess

And that pic, wow, 10 people there...

Like I said, how has the Heatwave stayed alive for this long

you can't attract supporters if you don't promote, which they apparently did not.

Many fans don't come strolling in the arena until late into the first quarter (including myself when I'm on Gary time 8) ), to be fair. Do you have any pics closer to halftime? That will give you a better indication of crowd size.

...okay, back to lurking. 8)

You also can't attract supporters if you don't return emails and never provide any information on your website. The team telephone number is the owner's cellphone, and he never bothers to return calls. The next time the Heatwave sends out a score update will be the first time they send out a score update.

The best place to find ABA scores, or notices of cancellations, on game nights continues to be this board and OSC. We did get several scores emailed to us this weekend, including both games by Larry and the Takers. They get an 'A' for communication. Texas, Boston and Cicero also sent in scores, and Maywood provided one of the Heatwave scores and informed us they weren't playing in Sacramento Sunday.

Paul you should send an Invoice to the ABA for all of our hard work lol.

Joe won't pay he will just say we are all unethical.

"Many fans don't come strolling in the arena until late into the first quarter ..."

.....was Snoop Dog in the lobby? These teams need to be averaging 500 on the weekdays and 1000+ on the weekend to have a chance.

Hmmmmm. Snoop Dogg may have been close by doing his community service (picking-up trash in a public park). I don't know. I DO know that pre-game warm-ups are not a good indication of anticipated crowd size.

Hello all,

I havent posted on here in a while now, but i had to today. Just wanted to give my two cents on whats going on.

The ABA Season for the West Coast kicked off November 2nd with LA @ SAC. Then it was to be RENO @ SAC on Nov 3 and then LA @ SAC on Nov 4th. With Reno folding two days before Sacramento was to kickoff that left him looking for a team.

Since we (The Maywood Buzz) had already started training camp, everyone thought that we would be ready and able to go play. We they contacted me on Thursday, NOV 1, I had informed them that since Hawaii had folded and our first game now wasn't until Nov 15th, we sent our players home, the City of Maywood had our floor redone, new lights and baskets put in. So we had not practiced for over 9 days.

I am sorry that the game wasnt played, and I didnt know the league had sent the schedule in with us on it after we said we wouldnt be able to do it.

The Maywood Buzz schedule is set on our website, granted we may add one or two games to pickup where reno dropped our home and road schedules are locked.

If you have any questions on the Buzz please feel free to email or call me. I dont hide and I do have an office number (323) 562-5570 (in there every day at 9:30am PST till late) and my cell (310) 493-4391....my email is buzzbasketball@gmail.com.

Paul thank you for everything you do here....it is a great thing and I will continue to stay with you and again call me anytime.

The balls being used for the warmups on those photos are last years' Rawlings balls, not this seasons' Spalding balls.
