View Full Version : Any update on the cancelled ABA tryouts?
The Arizona Republic ran a story on the cancellation of tryouts for the Native American team.

Seems that several folks paid $200 for a tryout in Phoenix and other cities, but the owner, William S. "Spider" Ledesma, cancelled them. Now it is alleged that he refuses to refund their money. Instead they are invited to travel to New Mexico at their own expense for a tryout.
Any update on this? Have refunds been given? Any other news?
Anyone in Arizona who lost their money can call the consumer information and complaint line at the Arizona Attorney General: 1-800-362-8431.

i've talked to spider ledesma on the phone twice now and he stated to me that all paid players who paid online who wanted to attend the 7 try-out camps are instead invited to attend the vertan's camp, cause there was only like 7 to 13 players attending each one. instead of spending money that they dont got, they will hold one big camp and make the team selection from there. however those who plan to walk on will be subjected to pay online as well, like me. i would rather pay when i arrive in albuquerque, but...anywayz.. on another note, contracts have already been offered to 10 players and i know that they all know each other very well, like his cousin wambli ledesma. they even had a african american sign a contract and it specifically states you have to have north american indian ancestry. isnt mexico in central america too???? i hate speculating but someone gots to do it. i guess you type that im like the financial auditor at the native tribal office.. L$L..

Uh, it was on the front page of ABAlive.com the other day, and the release was posted here. They combined the various tryouts into one.
