The PBL has gotten a lot of props, but is a weekend really considered a professional league? Is it semi -pro or recreational since player can work doing the week?
We know minor league sports don't pay much, so do players in the PBL have to work? Do they have a salary cap?
How does the pay compare to the CBA or NBDL, looking at the rosters DIII guys probably don't expect to make a lot, most of these guys probably would be playing in there local men's leagues.

MF: I see wed, thurs, friday, sat, & sun games on the pbl schedule, but how could it be a bad thing for most of the games are on frid/sat/sun? That's great for attendance and great for the league from what I can tell. Attendance numbers are much higher on weekends for most minor league teams. I know that some players are being signed in the $400 to $500/week range, perhaps some a little lower and some a little higher. You seem to have some sour grapes. Best bet is to put those energies in to your team.

weekend games imo are really good especially for the minors!!
i think more ppl would go see minors on a weekend rather than a monday night
I think Jax played mostly weekend games last year, and Quebec too in the ABA

MF. Sorry to call your motives in question then. My apologies! (Certainly you agree that some use this board to promote their own agendas.)
Which attendence numbers do you mean? In general across minor leagues - weekend vs weekday games? The average is around double, that is twice as many fans show up for weekend games. As far as league to league or team to team, most of the teams are happy to tell you if you ask. Attendance numbers should be provided with the stat sheets generally.
I will agree with you in your comments in one sense. We have nothing to grade the PBL on yet. They haven't played a game and since we don't have a crystal ball neither of us know how it will pan out. When they have a track record, it is time to talk about them. As others have said, until they put a black eye on minor league sports as others have, they get the benefit of the doubt.

If you saw the inflated attendance numbers I've seen for CBA and D-League, you wouldn't be going off on this "why all weekends" kick, you'd be wondering why those leagues even bother to play weekdays.
It is ill-advised to waste our time like this.
you think that the CBA numbers are inflated, Pounder? Do you have anything to back that up? I'm curious.

If the ABA didn't take so long to get their schedule out, the Silverbacks would have had better attendence, because with the schedule out so late, we lost most of our weekend dates in our date pool.
So instead of playing mostly on Thu/Fri/Sat, we played on Tues/Wed/Thur and a few weekend games
And it didn't help that Buff State gave us the gym at a weird time forcing the games to tip off at 8, and on a week day, a school day, in the winter, downtown in Buffalo, it doesnt help anymore...
SO you want some numbers well here:
06-07--We avg like around 500/game, one Friday game we had a bit over 600(vid on YouTube), season opener we had 1300, last two games one game at a HS we had over 600 and another at another local school where the Rapids played alot, we had like 400-500, and the gym only seats like 300 LOL, worst attendence I would say was like 300, it was a few days after X-Mas, its actually the game vs. Cape Cod which is on YouTube, however THE very next day we were right back up to 500
So basically playing during the week kinda hurt us...

..basically quit reporting after a while. The original numbers were laughable, particularly for Indiana.
The Apex teams seemed to have legit numbers, as did the Patroons and Yakama.

I know its not basketball, but the AHL, the top minor hockey league in North America, plays almost exclusively on weekends. Weekend dates are much better for attendance than weekdays, because folks don't have to think about school/work the next day. This is a good move.
have to worry about Indiana this season. As for the X, I'll be at every home game and I'm trying to do what I can to help improve our attendence, including give the X some of my ideas. I'm xpecting to see an improvement.
