Although I may have hung it up over at the NIFL boards for now that doesnt mean I cant come on my favorite board in post.
I have a lot issues with this years hounds team and the how the team is run in general
the hounds record stands at 4 straight divisional crowns in the 4 year league history, 2 atlantic conference runner ups, 2 atlantic conference championships, 2 NIFL championships, 1 undefeated season.
What is wrong with this picture
1) They were RU, WON, WON, RU, and in this last season as a runner up the most noticable sign of a lack of a properly run team was the fact that attendance did not climb at all.
2) WHeeling is a football town. A town that would sell out wheeling island stadium for a WHeeling Central WHeeling PArk HS football game when they used to play. WE LIKE FOOTBALL. However the team has done little to promote the football in this area
a) commericals are minimal
b) commericals do not explain the difference of the indoor game to the arena game that may spark interest
c) one commerical even had a mullet wearing redneck kid getting thumped over the head by george kellas which made the team look more like a bunch on inbred idiots then a well run franchise
d) billboards, EVER HEAR OF THEM (they dont cost much)
e) sponsers, EVER HEAR OF THEM (they dont ask much)
The fan appreciation night, which was actually put on by the arena and not the organization, was ok this year, but this appreciation night came only after the fans grumble, the kennel fans drums went silent in a protest of appreciation, and attendance dropped. Where was the fan appreciation. The website asked fans at the beginning of the year what they would like to receive. TOO BAD OF THE CHOICES OFFERED, WE DIDNT RECEIVE ANY. Finally a team poster arrived in the playoffs.
Now im not asking for free pizzas, a steak dinner, or maybe the backstreet boys to make Dan and Matt in the other endzone happy. I am asking for the team to get some sponsers, like say Cabelas, Stoney Hollow, Wheeling Hospital, TJ's, and so forth that may make some Tee shirts or some plastic footballs or frisbees. HOW ABOUT INSTEAD OF THAT BIG FREAKING TRACTOR DRIVING AROUND (and I know the team gets money for it), how about FG's at halftime like the smash days, a football toss to be qualified to win a trip or something. COME ON
OTHER FANS HAVE SAID IT AND ITS TRUE. THIS ORGANIZATION IS RIDING THE WAVE OF BEING SUCCESSFUL AND THE DIE HARDS LIKE ME HAVE CONTINUED TO COME BACK, BUT if you s**t on me once, I will get mad, if you do it continually, I'm probably not coming back to your place to party. WITH THE AIFL OPENING UP, and a good bit of fans coming from johnstown, akron, and surrounding areas to watch their talent that has come here to play, look for a few more fans to jump ship. Also, with the signing of the GM as the daily football operations for the league, a league the fans have continued to show that they hate, more fans may jump ship.
WHAT NOW, WE DIDNT WIN IT ALL SO FREE GIVE AWAYS EVERY GAME? then what, we win it all again and everything will stop.
I like the FO, and I am friends with some of them, but from taking away the Ghgirls, to disrespecting the fans, the same old story, is starting to sound like a crock of s**t to me.
