First, what a great job by the Newark Bears organization and players to win the 2007 Atlantic League Championship. Enthusiastic crowd (aided by some vocal Somerset fans) of around 3,500 for the final game on a Monday night.
The new nearby Prudential Center, home of the NJ Devils, seems to be headed for success as evidenced by last night's opening event. This will surely create a positive impression about Newark among many thousands of suburbanites venturing into the downtown area for the first time.
I can't help but believe that this positive experience will help draw many more fans to the Den... perhaps another 500 per game.
