Just out of curiosity, which teams are the most successful in Women's Football? What is fan turnout like? Are there any T.V. deals in the works? Which teams are winning?

The Detroit Demolition I believe have lost only 1 game in their 3 year history, and that was in their first season. They haven't lost a game since 2002. One game I attended last year, they beat the Indiana Thunder 104-0!! They scored on every single possesion, and I don't think Indiana ever got a first down. They are the 3 time defending NWFA champions. Turnout is decent, but I don't think they are selling out the high school stadium they play at. No TV, and I doubt there will be any time soon. They are not on the radio either, although I know some teams are. They were offering the other teams radio feed on their website for a couple of the playoff games this year. There is VERY little news coverage here. I heard the head coach being interviewed on one of the 2 sports radio stations in Detroit one time, and I remeber seeing them on the morning news on TV once this season for a 3 minute spot. The newspapers give them a small column every once in a while. Winning a championship gets them on page 5 of the sports section the next day.

Detroit Demolition are the most successful NWFA franchise on the field. I think, this year, the Pittsbugh franchise was the most successful attendance-wise, averaging about 4000 fans per game. The Nashville Dream, in my hometown, is a perennial NWFA playoff team, and I have been to a couple of their games. They are better organized off the field than the 2 male semi-pro teams in Nashville (which are also very good teams), but crowd size, when I was there, was in the 200-250 range. They play at Glencliff High School's field, and charge $3.00 to park your car in Glencliff's parking lot. This seems a little silly when you can't fill the lot, and I can see this hurting attendance, as the male semi-pro teams that are their "peers" do not do this.
Tammy Lowrey-Ridgley, marketing director of the Pittsbugh franchise, and, before that, of a highly successful NWFA franchise in Florida, has been hired as the NWFA's marketing director. I have a feeling she will get the marketing of some of these teams on a better track. The Dream deserves a better fan base than it has, and I think some intelligent attention to marketing would help.
