He's OK...But I think, since the SPHL moved out of the "Vet," that the ECHL needs to make their move to get there...
Get out your Lizard Kings gear...let's rally for a comeback!

The ECHL needs to stay out of Jacksonville right now. There is a strong fan base for the Barracudas and if the ECHL comes in that will be 1000 fans that they will never see per night. They'll never see them when the Cudas are in town and they definitely won't see them if the Cudas die because of the ECHL being in town. Their best bet is to watch the situation with the Cudas and if they leave, the ECHL could be ready to step into the vet and fill the hockey void.
Also, I highly doubt that it would be the Lizards Kings. That franchise is dead. And the previous owners probably still own the rights to the name. If they come in for the 08-09 season, that would be 8 seasons and then a return of the Lizard Kings and I just don't seethat happening.

Okay, so we should just let the Veterans Memorial Arena sit empty with no sports occupants?

Bingo...
Let SMG lose money for once.

That is one possible solution. SMG says "OH S**T! If we're jerks and raise the rent to high for any team to play here, we lose money." An arena can't survive on concert alone, what if there isn't a good turn out? They've still got to pay big bucks for those great concerts that SMG boasts.

Thats like saying the NHL will not move into a city where and because a AHL team is located and by the way they are playing in a recreation make shift arena.

It took me four times of reading what you wrote to fully grasp your meaning. Please use at least somewhat proper grammar.
As fas as what you said about the NHL, they would give the chance to move on to a new city (ex. Denver -> Utah, Minnesota -> Manitoba). This is a totally different situation from where a SPHL team is in a rink that holds less than 1,000 and an ECHL team in practically brand spanking new approx. 16,000 seat arena that the SPHL team just left is totally different than an NHL team moving into a market that has proven successful at the AHL level and the NHL giving the chance for the AHL team to move.
To compare the ECHL with the NHL and the SPHL with the AHL is unfair to all parts. Know what you're talking about before you try anf call someone out.

No league is going to hold back from making a decison on moving into Jacksonville because a lowly SPHL franchise is playing in a rec arena with less than 1000 seats. I hope you were able to understand my grammar! Its just a matter of time before Jacksonville folds.

Right now, the Fresno Falcons are playing in the 16,000-seat Save Mart Center, and hopes their old digs (no more than 10,000 in Selland Arena) can be renovated so they can move back.
ECHL economics demand smaller arenas, to be honest. Not the 1,000-seat rec arenas, mind you... 5-10K will do.

That would explain why the af2's CV Coyotes aren't playing in Save Mart...

Oh how wrong you are. The ECHL sees the SPHL as a respectable up and coming league and they won't move into a market already occupied with an SPHL team. I'm not saying the Barracudas won't fold but you wont see the ECHL in Jacksonville until they do.
Pounder, why did you bring up Fresno? I said nothing about the ECHL going to Jax Ice just that while the Barracudas are there the ECHL wont be in JVMA.

Since when do these leagues really watch out for each other? I highly doubt what you say about the ECHL respecting the turf of other leagues, nor would the SPHL in other scenarios (if they were smart, anyway).
I bring up Fresno because I'm citing a case where a team goes into a building with a size similar to the JVMA. Fresno knows the arrangement is NOT working for them. I'm saying rider is wrong because no hockey team Jax is capable of getting will want to play in there unless stuff is practically given away to the hockey team. SMG isn't known for that, BTW.
