It makes sense to look at smaller venues, it gives the possiblity of the Home Depot Center in Los Angeles to get a team.

They are probably cheaper to rent, and it will be easier to fill the stadium and the crowds will look good on tv if they get a tv contract.

"We're looking for premier cities that have no real strong ties to a particular NFL market that could sustain a professional franchise ... that have passionate fans that support their teams on the collegiate level," Huyghue said. "Where the colleges have served somewhat as the pro teams ... and venues that are around 25,000 to 30,000 seats that would be perfect for us in our inaugural season."

Smaller stadiums would be the correct decision. Especially until the UFL is established. The XFL did not do too bad with their attendance, but in most cases, the upper tier was blacked out, giving the stadium the appearance of having a near-capacity crowd.

If the UFL has an area that they expect a larger turnout, there would be nothing wrong with that particular team having their home games in a place with more seats.

they have to be in smaller staduims because i doubt they will draw more then 20-40 thousand

By that criteria, they should consider at least 4 or 5 former XFL markets:

MLS "soccer-specific" stadiums would be perfect. They're state of the art but smaller -17-25k capacity in most cases. Columbus, Chicago, and as mentioned, Los Angeles, come to mind.

Their preferred size is actually larger than what MLS is currently building out.

There are other places, like San Antonio's Alamo Stadium (not the dome) that come to mind here.

After what's already happened to Becks, I'm not sure the Galaxy want anyone else damaging the turf. If they were smart, that is...

The Home Depot Center has arguably the worst grass playing field in America. Two soccer teams play on it already and after decades of playing soccer on fields with football lines (which is still going on in MLS in some stadiums), I doubt the HDC would just let a football team play there.

Maybe when that SportsExe technology where they can change lines with fiberoptic lights instead of paint at the click of a mouse, that could change. (If you don't know, Google it.)

Yeah, smaller stadiums are the way to go.

That's a great way to get smashed by the NFL. Small is better.

I hope the UFL is considering Louisville, Ky. The old Cardinal Stadium at the fairground seats around 30,000. I've seen many a Louisville Redbirds minor league baseball games and UofL football games there and (IMO) is a great old place to watch a game. Louisville does a great job supporting The AAA baseball team and the AF2 team, not to mention UofL. I think there is room in the market for a pro football team. If properly funded and promoted I could see them easily drawing 20 to 25 K.

It's called being realistic. The last two leagues to actively challenge the NFL, the World Football League and the United States Football League came to very unpleasant ends.

The USFL even won its anti-trust lawsuit with the NFL, but the legal power the NFL had got their fine reduced to a little more than 3 dollars. As a result, the USFL went kaput.

It's best to start slow and build a firm foundation, so you can have support if you still want to make it a goal of going after the NFL.

There is no right or wrong.

OK, then you won't mind if I drop my little atomic bomb on top of your head.

It schould (sic) not matter who has been here the longest.

I agree. What matters is that your proposals seem to concur with those of the drug-addicted.

The laws of economics are astonishingly measurable. Since others are talking about MLS stadia, let it be noted that most of those structures are designed with expandability in mind, so that you're always shooting for scarcity of tickets to drive demand, yet able to eventually increase supply when it becomes obvious to do so. Moreover, trying paying rent in NFL stadia... one reason that MLS got the heck out of the Rose Bowl and is finally getting out of Giants Stadium.

sorry comrade Jamie I thought this was a free country where everyone has a right to there opinion. You communist you!!!!!

Another sign of the drug-addicted is the self-delusion of belief that you're funny. At least I hope you were trying, 'cause otherwise I'd say you were a freshman at the Karl Rove School for Campaigning.

I had no objection to your opinion.

I objected to the neanderthal response to disagreement:

Dude, Why are you so negative???? Oh I know your a Colt/nfl lover... Take your frickin cockroach and go away.

"You disagree with me so go away."

Whatever you say, Mr. Itsafreecountry

Smaller stadiums are indeed the way to go. A virtually empty Giants Stadium or Los Angeles Coliseum looks depressing on TV and undercuts the credibility of the league, whereas a jam-packed Sam Boyd Stadium in Vegas or Sacamento's Hornet Stadium would provide an atmosphere and environment that actually enhances the experience of watching the game on the field. The previous failed pro football leagues couldn't grasp this concept, let's hope the UFL learns from their repeated folly.
