Well its a start, but they are 1 of 3 expansion teams who no one knows about, so they really need to get going, a little more than 3 months left, hope they can make it work...

That's reassuring.

Now I'm actually wondering why the Arkansas RimRockers didn't move to Barton Coliseum if rent was their only issue. Nevermind, I know the answer.

to see Little Rock have a team again. But it seems a little late, to me. The schedule has already been released(Reminds me of another league).

It is late for us, but so far it looks like the release of the schedule was dependent on each team's having a venue secured. That's why Arkansas is on it and Minnesota is not. Pending different news from the remaining teams, this is the assumption I will go with.

I may have missed some news today, but what does this mean?

"The schedule has already been released(Reminds me of another league)."

Have there been changes to the schedule since yesterday after it was released? Arkansas was on the first draft of the schedule that was released. Has another team pulled out? If so, then that would remind us all of another league. If not, kudos to the PBL for releasing a schedule after all venues, teams, and dates were secured and not before. If Minnesota couldn't get the dates satisfactory to the league, then it was a good move for all to defer until next year BEFORE the schedule was released.

It could be that the PBL sees the venue/schedule issue as the most critical for establishing credibility early on, so they didn't want to screw that up or make any premature announcements. This is the kind of thing they left the ABA for right? We'll find out if the remaining two franchises have venues soon enough.

i won't speak for any league but from a team's perspective, knowing that you have a solid schedule (even if it comes a little later than you like) is absolutely critical in maintaining credibility in the local community and with your sponsors and is equally critical in controlling your travel costs. think the difference in booking your plane tickets 6 weeks in advance vs booking them the day before.

I absolutely agree. At the same time, it only helps the league to know all the teams it is including on the schedule has a venue. It just looks like they were trying to get all their ducks in a row with the schedule and the venues, and that was more important than having websites for the new teams. I'll certainly be paying attention to the Defenders along with all the other minor league teams in Texas this season. It's a good excuse to get out on the road every once in awhile.

Ya, actually i think we are saying the same thing here. I am taking for granted (dangerous based on minor league bball history i know) that two things are solid here for all 10 pbl teams playing: their venues and their schedules. (can't have one without the other.) My understanding is that this is in fact true. The shortcoming has been in getting the info out to the fans and public via pr's and websites. in our business, if we don't see it on line somewhere, we don't think it is in place yet. scary thing is that in this business, putting it on a website or in a press release in reality means absolutely nothing. maybe in the pbl, they'll do it first and talk about it later (within reason.) this will be just one of the many differences i hope we'll see b/w the pbl and other leagues.

Minnesota not having a venue is total hogwash, contact Roy Wilikns in St.Paul and ask?

Maybe they got smart, does Arkansas or Dallas have a Coach or staff yet?

They had a venue. They also had alot of bad dates, Tuesday, wednesdays.
Thats what I have been told by several people.
