This sucks! I was looking forward to this event. Problem is if they wait until seasons start up, no current players are going to be able to leave their respective teams to attend an event like this. Below is the press release from the HG website.

TOO HOT FOR WINNIPEG
(Winnipeg, MB)
BATTLE OF THE HOCKEY GLADIATORS WILL NOT TAKE PLACE IN WINNIPEG
It was announced today that due to the great deal of pressure being exerted by local law enforcement on the Hockey Gladiators executive and Winnipeg Arena, it was decided not to proceed with the event at this time in this jurisdiction.
“We’re disappointed by this latest hurdle, but it’s just that. We will continue to move forward and find a home for our event” said Darryl Wolski, HG Founder, and President. “Rather than put our participants at risk of a charge, we’re going to postpone Hockey Gladiators until we can secure a new location. It could be as early as a month from now, but no later than 6 months from now.” Wolski added from his Hockey Gladiators office in Winnipeg.
Tickets purchased for “Battle of the Hockey Gladiators” in Winnipeg are available for refund at the Winnipeg Arena Box Office as of Wednesday August 11, 2004.
Up to date announcements will be available on the Hockey Gladiators website, www.hockeygladiators.com.
There will be no media comments, or speculation made other than by this release.
