What ...

Nobody is buying ABA Merchandise?
http://www.abalive.com/store/store.html

The current season is not even here yet ...

and the ABA is having a SALE on selected BRAND NEW merchandise ...

SALE - 10% OFF PRICE SHOWN - LIMITED TIME!

I especially like the "LIMITED TIME" offer, LOL.

Halo 3 scores a record $170 million worth of sales in its first 24 hours on the U.S. market.

It appears the ABA hasn't scored with the fans with their NEW and EXCITING merchandise items that were made available ...

And now, selected merchandise is 10% off for a LIMITED TIME.

Don't forget ... Order a Spalding Basketball by December 20, 2007 ... and you will get a FREE ABA Lapel Pin, valued at $6.50

I hate to break it to the ABA ...

But Santa doesn't plan on giving the kids, ABA CEO "Bobbleheads" this Christmas.

Maybe you should look into "Fatheads", I heard they are pretty popular! :p

I think one of the things that cheezes me off about the current ABA is that every so often I'll visit eBay and see a Julius Erving or David Thompson autographed basketball - it's a ball autographed on the current ABA 10-panel Rawlings ball, not on one of the balls from the 1970's. As far as I'm concerned, that's a slap in the face to anyone who played in the original league - to have their league name associated with this garbage. Folding franchises, unpaid players, schedules made up on cocktail napkins, teams announced that never play, it's just one thing after another.

Shame on you, Joe Newman.

Their name isn't associated with this. However, people here in Norfolk remember the emergence of Erving and George Gervin during the years of '71-'73, but we also got a shot of what the future aba would be like.

In an attempt to keep a team in the area then Virginia owner Earl Foreman sold off all the superstars and went through five or six different coaches in their final season. No word on whether these coaches were paid,

support dropped as people blamed ownership for gutting the team of talent, attendance dropped way down and they were barely able to keep the doors open.

at the same time, the merger happened and people in this area blamed foreman for not foreseeing this, and keeping Virginia out of the NBA. If they had kept Erving and some of the other talent, surely there would have been an invitation for the squires to go with the other lottery winners.

So, when you talk about the golden years, remember they weren't so golden for some of us fans.

am glad that the N.Y. Nets acquired Dr. J, or they would never have won their Championship. He helped build up their attendence. Unfortunately, I never went to any games, but I read about them and watched when they were on local tv.

I do believe that "limited time" refers to the ABA's future. How can Joe steer his Scooter Chair around the basement of ABA Headquarters with all that unsold crap laying around?

If he threw that ABA crap out on his front lawn, the neighborhood kids wouldn't take it. When the hell was the last time anyone bought a mesh back baseball cap? Is this 1974? Any Charlies Angels tee shirts? BJ and the Bear beer can cozy's? Maybe a few Starsky and Hutch posters?

New this month from the ABA.......buy any item at 10% price shown and receive a free Leo Sayer 8 track........ACT NOW!!

Question from James W, NYC: "Congratulations on the new NYC Internationalz. Sounds like a great concept. I know that the ABA has red, white and blue basketballs and hats for sale, but does the league and teams have specialty items like water bottles, towels, backpacks, watches etc. with logos on them for sale? And how do I get them?"

Answer: James. Thanks for the question. I cannot believe the timing of this question. Amazing. You must be psychic. On Friday, the ABA came to an agreement to manufacture a large variety of specialty items like those you mentioned that will be available on the ABA web site, the teams' web sites and at the various teams' venues during the season. We are now in the process of producing the items. They will be very good quality and very affordably priced and will make great souvenirs. They will also make great Christmas presents and stocking stuffers. We will make the official announcement very shortly and will post the 5-10 items on the ABA web site (www.abalive.com). The teams will do the same with their team logo merchandise. Watch for the announcement. If you have a question, email conniejoenewman@aol.com.

So the bobbleheads ARE coming :-D

Is it just me or do the words "We will make the official announcement very
shortly"...mean that these "souvenirs" are just another one of Joes dreams
hoping to hatch into action??? Kind of like new teams, TV deals, key
players, Starz in Motion, etc.....

Or, James could just be another of the voices in Joe's head...

If James is indeed psychic....Maybe Joe could hire him as a consultant...
"Joe"/James
"Is it a good idea to put a team in Chicago?" No...
"Are we ever going to have T.V. coverage?" No...
"Will Reno make it through the year?" No...
"Are players going to get paid?" No...
"Are teams going to bolt to the CBA/PBL?" Yes...

Of course, that being all it takes, we all could be hired by Joe...
Though I forgot...He might actually have to pay us....

Or you must be him.

So the bobbleheads ARE coming

You could have one for every bankrupt ABA owner.

The teams will do the same with their team logo merchandise.

If the teams are having logos put on merchandise, depending on manufacturing/printing order time, many teams could be out of the league before their UPS shipment shows up.

Will that merchandise be 'affordably discounted' just in time for the holidays?
