View Full Version : Pasadena Push added to ABA schedule

Well, apparently the Maywood Buzz updated their schedule, which now includes a team called the Pasadena Push. That's right... less than 40 days before tip-off, and a NEW FRANCHISE joins the league!
Looks like any games Maywood had scheduled against Beijing were removed from Maywood's listing, and several games against the Pasadena Push were added.
Just when you thought it couldn't get any crazier...

It's funny that Joe makes it sound like he's helping rehabilitate an ex-thug.
Hey, it is a good thing if the guy's story is true but not with an ABA team. He just got conned by a real con man.
On a unrelated note, Glue sniffer, you sound like a real nice guy. Why don't you move the Takers to a real league like the CBA?? You deserve better than the ABA, Brother.
skippy

That may be the worst ABA team name ever.
At least right up there with Prolyms.

1) Open dictionary
2) Point to word
3) Name team after that word
-----------------------------------
In my area I've come up with:
The Cleveland Errand
The Columbus Leaf Spring
The Dayton Rebelious
The Erie Trade Name
Sorry folks...Thats what they were:eek:

The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that it has added a team in the rapidly-expanding league that will play this season - the Pasadena Push. According to Joe Newman, ABA CEO, "This team has been in the works for sometime under the very capable leadership of Los Angeles businessman Donye Mitchell, a seasoned entrepreneur with his heart firmly committed to his passion, basketball. Quite frankly, Donye's story is an inspiration and we are very pleased to have someone with his drive and energy as part of the ABA."

Again, not to pick at semantics, but am I the only person who feels that, in order for something (anything?) to be "rapidly-expanding" it must actually be getting measurable larger? Pasadena has, apparently, assumed another team's schedule. That would be the very defintion of something staying "rapidly-level," with no increase.
Of course, the fact that, apparently, a number of other teams have disappeared this season is a prime example of virtually the complete OPPOSITE of "rapidly-expanding," but again, these are just words to Joe, without any actual, verifiable meaning or proof.
And it sure ain't funny...

I also see that they have hired Otis Hailey as head coach. Since, you know, his most recent experiences in Calgary amd Niagara ended so well (and, so early...).

This has the makings of Joe giving Reno some new west coast bait....
1) To get people away from "Little Joe's" disaster that are the Reno Sharpshooters.
2) Put two flunkie franchises together and create one???
I don't follow the west coast teams as close as the ones on the east. But
would I be correct in believing that Sacramento and Orange Country are
pretty much all they have out there with any following/hope?

Actually, this is PRECISELY the language the ABA should use:
http://wsu.edu/~brians/errors/sometime.html :
"Let's get together sometime." When you use the one-word form, it suggests some indefinite time in the future. "Some time" is not wrong in this sort of context, but it is required when being more specific: "Choose some time that fits in your schedule." "Some" is an adjective here modifying "time." The same pattern applies to "someday" (vague) and "some day" (specific).
There are few things more 'indefinite' or vague than the ABA's business plan

The HeatWave are still around LOL
Now that Bellingham is gone, and who knows whats up with Beijing, the West Coast ABA is worse than a natural disaster, those teams out there jump in joy when they get 75 people to a game at the local YMCA or Community Center
Orange County right now is the only team that might turn out alright out of the expansion teams, and San Diego and Maywood will probably be okay...

The exception to this rule were the Long Beach Jam. They had several sell outs at the Long Beach State Pyramid. They ended up moving cities and leagues (Bakersfield Jame of the D-League).

At what point does Brad Hester throw up his hands and scream " enough already old man......I'm losing my mind?""!! Arranging this schedule must be like trying to catch rain in a straw. Every time you make a move, you should have stayed where you were.
Although with some fresh money from another chucklehead, Joe could buy Brad some fresh erasers and liquid paper.
Hopefully Brad still has his Lowes employee vest at home. The biggest mistake he ever made was to give up a promising career mixing paint for this one clown circus.
